As a society we largely gave up on exploration, curiosity, artistic expression, and kindness, and accepted the dehumanizing premise that the only value that matters is economic value. Acceptance of that dehumanization led directly to every one of grim situations we’re facing now.
The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.
Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States.
"In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct."

Google was really trying to hide its water use figures, to the degree that it got the council to try to keep its water use figures secret. The community finally got the actual numbers and found out Google was using 29 percent of the water in the community.

BASH: The worry is that we end up in a situation where President Trump tries to overturn the election and the result of that could be like what we saw after January 6--
BLANCHE: Stop it! You gotta stop it with that! That's crazy
BASH: This is a president who has a history
I hope Cheesecake Factory comes out with a statement like "We must clarify we did NOT allow Saddam Hussein to design our chandeliers and he had virtually no input into our menu" and then we can ride this through Monday
I have been seeing a lot of “if it’s on the internet, you should expect it to be scraped” posts lately, and as practical advice, sure.
It is also thoroughly okay to be mad about this fact! We SHOULD be able to use devices and services without accidentally signing over souls.
🔥 OBAMA: “Trump should be on HGTV. He's got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory…. He’s clearly not focused on lowering prices for you.”
The BBC is doing something important, refusing to be intimidated by a powerful person trying to use the legal system to punish criticism and discourage scrutiny. They’re schooling the American press on what the 1st Amendment means. Read about it here: joycevance.substack.com/p/the-bbc-st...
Heading to bed, see you all bright and early tomorrow for another installment of What Small Glimmer of Hope For the Future Are the World's Richest Assholes Stomping Out Today
You aren’t owed skills, or accolades for skipping things that other people work really hard at, or money, or whatever it is you hope AI will “democratize” for you. Grow up.
This is the argument about AI that grinds my gears. “Well, I can’t do xyz, so clearly I need to steal it.”
Orrr you could do what the rest of us do. Learn (while accepting you’ll be bad at first). Do a service swap with a cover artist, narrator, editor. Or lump it.
A Florida man was found dead in his home during a welfare check in July 2022. Weeks later, one of the officers who discovered his body moved into the home and spent years impersonating him, according to investigators.
“Palantir cofounder and CEO Alex Karp states ‘AI will undermine the influence of highly educated, often female voters and give it to working class men.
We have feminine energy running our cities and our courts,’ he complained.”
This is at least the third example of absolutely idiotic AI image use to come out of Stanford in the last month or so. To think I used to assume that the people who work there are among the smartest in the land. 🙄 stanforddaily.com/2026/10/21/u...
There are so so so SO many problems in the world today, but it boils down to this: we have to lower carbon emissions enough to stop climate change, or nothing else matters.

Teams is a dumpster fire inside a burning building, next to a toxic waste dump, on a Superfund Cleanup Site, on a geological fault, next to an active volcano, next to 3-mile Island, in a direct line of an asteroid strike.
In the bedrock of my soul I know he started out thinking the press pool was a literal pool and has been seething with disappointment since he discovered the mistake
This week I’ve seen men ridicule women for dressing “too provocatively” & other men ridicule Muslim women for dressing “to conservatively.” A reminder that men should shut the hell up, stop worrying about how women dress, & instead expend their energy on getting men to stop raping & abusing women.
my entire life trajectory was oriented towards "being good at things", I sacrificed quite a lot to get where I am today, and now society has deemed expertise not very valuable anymore
and for what little remains, AI/people using AI will siphon it out of you the very moment they smell it in the air
