I never understood why the windows key needs to be next to alt and shift where it constantly gets accidentally pressed.
Thats why the first thing i do with any new computer is disable that damned thing.
If they'd put it somewhere out of the way, like up by esc, maybe i'd use it.
I feel like I'm one of the only lefties that would hate this. Every other one I meet uses a mouse with their left hand, and I would still numpad with my right hand anyway. Gaming on this would also be a nightmare. I don't know, this isn't for me lol.
I've never understood why the number pad is on the primary-hand side anyway. I'm a righty, and having the mouse closer to the letter keys is *well* worth having the number pad on the left.
This was one of the great things about the MS Ergo Sculpt: the numpad was entirely separate.
Well, because the numpad comes from a time before mice or graphical interfaces.
It doesn't pre-exist the keyboard, but it was a stand alone data entry device before programmable computers were available to even the military.
...right, but the keyboard layout has gone through many evolutions. What I don't understand is why it's not more popular to have the numpad on the side of the non-dominant hand. This article is from the perspective of a lefty wanting the numpad on the left, and all the negative responses...
Nah, just get one without a numpad. I don't use it, ever. For one thing the numbers are all in the wrong places, unlike, say, a calculator or a touch-tone telephone. You want a numpad, I'm sure you can plug one in separately nowadays, anyway.

This is actually kinda sick, a keyboard that can swap its numpad position seems quite handy. The amount of times I need both my hand on the mouse and numpad is surprisingly high with Blender.
I need the numpad on the right specifically in order to fly planes in GTA V with a keyboard. It requires the use of BOTH WASD and the numpad.
Very specific use case, I know.
