I spent way too much time looking at these gorgeous maps in the Midlothian Council water department "archives" (AKA Portacabin!) up in Fairmilehead. Far more exciting than the plans of sewage treatment works I was supposed to be looking for. Great detail and illustrations of all the posh houses.
