Epic, the company behind MyChart, is rolling AI into all of its services. It now scribes, writes discharge orders and more. People and patients should know about it.

After my last visit to the local ER, the physician notes in MyChart stated that "patient was informed of AI use for these notes," or words to that effect. No, I was not informed.

Best believe Anthropic and OpenAI sales people are all over these hospitals telling them to use tools like this or get left behind.

I went to a new dentist and learned just before the appointment that they used some form of "AI". During my initial consultation, they showed me my X-rays with some annotations that were labeled as being from "AI" and told me I had periodontal disease and bone loss. >>

Ended up going to another dentist for insurance reasons, and my teeth turned out to be in excellent health. I can't say with 100% certainty that it's the fault of the "AI", but it sure does seem like a reasonable assumption.
