Hey #GameDev and #ATProto! I'm working on tools to decentralize the ownership and management of video games by putting them (or at least their data... for now) on ATProto! I'm looking for feedback, so if you have any interest I'd love to hear your thoughts. ♥️ 🎮 ♥️

discourse.atprotocol.communityIntroducing The Pentaract: A Comprehensive Set of Video Game Lexicons for ATProto1. Dev mode I wanted to be able to iterate on my early lexicons, and I didn’t know how that would impact other lexicons in lexicon.community. TBF I didn’t do much research into it either, but I figure...

Totally fair! I've fleshed out a lot more of the idea now, so maybe this article will help.

I've gotten this question from a lot of #GameDev: "How can I, a game developer, make use of ATProto in my games?" So I wrote an article to address my work in a way that makes more sense for game developers, especially those that don't know (or care) about ATProto.

I assume you're referring to Miiverse as a social gaming platform? If so, then not exactly. I'm more focused on enabling developers than on providing a platform for users. I may be misunderstanding, tho.

Hi! I've thought atproto sounds interesting, and I like most of what I've seen of it, But, can you help me understand how I, a game developer, might use the AT Protocol to "decentralize the ownership and management" of games I make? bless 🙏

Your question was one of many that pushed me to write this article. Hopefully it'll help clear some bits up for you. ♥️

I wrote a paper to explain. zenodo.org/records/1746... make agent to scrap game data -> push to supabase -> analyze data -> push top content into your social network via atproto mcp -> agent can search and respond to pushed content -> rinse & repeat. there are numerous botds that do exactly this.

I skimmed your paper! What I'm working on is quite a bit different. It's not about building a system to scrape data, but rather a system for developers to decentralize their game data. Hopefully the article I wrote will help clear things up.

wasn't there a whole thing about how bluesky's ATProtocol can't be decentralized currently because there's something missing from the open source stuff? Or was that fixed at some point?

Bluesky itself was centralized when they launched, but they've successfully decentralized the protocol. At this point it's in a very good place: self-hosted PDS, alt AppViews (like deer.social and blacksky.community), and even distributed relays. It's a really great architecture, honestly.

witchsky.app/profile/did:... looks like soft-launched

Any blacksky.app users who get banned from bsky should try logging into the staging.blacksky.community website. Looking to get feedback + identify any lingering bugs. Email support@blacksky.app with those. Missing data from non-Blacksky hosted accounts + older posts is expected

Hey there, I tried to address this in an article that will _hopefully_ be a little more accessible than the forum post. 😀

It depends what link you're referring to. Data hosting is up to the game owner - it lives in their PDS, which can be self-hosted or use providers like Bluesky. No separate hosting fee from us for the lexicons/infrastructure.

For platform connections (Steam, Epic Games Store, etc.): ideally platforms implement ATProto support themselves. We might build a sync service as a bridge initially, but the primary goal is getting platforms to adopt it directly.
