It’s likely that the federal judicial system thats behaving like this isn’t legitimate and will be sued heavily post Trump. There international trade agreements and fines imposed on the bad behavior of countries in the same way. Democrats can take a retrospective look at this beginning next year

At least some are An attorney from the U.S. Committee for Refugees, one of the groups with a new contract to represent migrant children, was silent as it happened, according to filings Thursday in the legal dispute between a network of nonprofits and the Trump administration.

(1) It is a huge problem that the judge ordered this. (2) It is also a huge problem that the immigration attorneys present didn't object to this. (3) It is further a huge problem that you're reporting this via this headline as if the only individual at fault is the judge. @notus.com: do better.

(And to be clear, because I ran out of room: The main problem here is the regime's morally indefensible immigration-"enforcement" apparatus.)

also for anyone wondering how a judge could do this, immigration judges are not article III judges, but employees of the department of justice with a "judge" title

*just an FYI not actually a judge. They are an "immigration judge" which is a job title for an executive branch employee. They aren't subject to the same rules and obligations that govern article 3 judges

In most countries this simply happens administratively outside of a court system. There really isn't any political backlash here in Europe against any deportations of those without legal right to stay. Credit to America for even having this debate.

“The baby is one of the unaccompanied migrant children who have had to represent themselves in immigration court since July 31, when a contract between the federal government and a network of nonprofits that provided legal services ended, the groups say in the court filings.” JFC. This is monstrous.

There’s millions in unpaid grants to the organizations that provide the immigration support for children like this. And now Trump wants to cut off these aid organizations in favor of someone else who has never worked immigration cases. At least there is an investigation. bsky.app/profile/nanc...

NEW: Rep. Robert Garcia and Sen. Ron Wyden launched investigation into Burke Law Group and Our Rescue — two shady orgs with close ties to the Trump Admin that were recently awarded no-bid contracts valued up to $394 million to represent migrant children. oversightdemocrats.house.gov/news/press-r...

Me, everyday. How long before Congress grows a damn spine?👇 Also, those who intentionally harm children are the lowest on earth. No matter if it’s psychologically or physically, you’re never going to be considered a respectable or trustworthy, especially if you inflict harm for money in return.
