The only winning move is not to play. If I say something is illegal, people tell me laws don't matter unless they're enforced (No shit? I dropped out of law school bcuz it made me too acutely aware of how many laws aren't enforced!), but if I suggest that maybe we should enforce the law, I'm naΓ―ve.

Zelnut πŸ‰πŸ‘Ύ@dahliaiterations.com

Me: Laws are made up and don't actually bind anyone except by the fiat of the most immediate enforcer. They can all be nullified by about 11 people agreeing they shouldn't work. Others: WOW! Nihilist much? πŸ™„ Me: The laws of the United States say X. Others: Since when do the laws matter?

This racist shitbag needs to have his life upended and his dynasty destroyed.

I dont know if it's because they love republicans and want them to win but holy crap is this an embarrassment. the equivalent of reckless disregard in terms of journalism fuck ups. Just the simplest damn googling.

I have just published a piece that is very important to me. It's about why so many "progressives" and people on "the left" are lying to us right now about crime, safety, and repression, and what we should be doing instead. equalityalec.substack.com/p/why-is-eve...

equalityalec.substack.comWhy is everyone lying? What do Malcolm Gladwell, far right propagandists, Democratic politicians, the non-profit Vera Institute for Justice, and β€œsocialists” from Jacobin Magazine have in common?

its insane how not many people are talking about how republicans with the help of several moderate democrats are building out the largest abusive medical conversion therapy operation in modern american history

Periodic reminder that when Biden was accused, he said that it was false but that the victim "had a right" to "tell her story." Fuck Joe Biden to hell.

maybe if the democrats hadn't ratfucked 2020 in favor of a guy with a such a well documented history of being a fucking creep that when the accusations came out we were like "yeah that tracks" they would have an easier time with the "trump is a rapist" angle

as far as electoral politics is concerned, being a rapist (or another kind of sex pest) is not actually a liability, for anyone in any party. being able to violate consent has simply always been a perk offered to the powerful

people keep being like "why don't they point out that trump is a rapist" and i think it's probably because biden is also probably a rapist

Note the key phrase "so many people." Yglesias thinks it's fineβ€”good in factβ€”that American billionaires are very interested in foreign elections and routinely influence them to promote corruption and fascism. His concern is that filthy plebs like you and me might want better things for everyone.

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

AI proponents cling to the idea that the tech is going to enable boundless creativity, but I've seen what it enables; endless spam. It's enabled people without a single ounce of creativity in their bodies to make endless Balatro clones, genuinely no thoughts of their except Balatro but slop.

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.
