We once had a Shih Tzu and thinking they did nicely in pairs, got a second one. The first one squeaked her squeaky toy incessantly for two solid weeks, but then they finally became besties. 🤣

When our male shih tzu was 4 years old we adopted a female puppy. That was more than 10 years ago and he still ignores her. Although she tries to play with him and bites his ear trying to get his attention, he does not respond. And each is jealous of the other, so have to hold both of them at once.

That’s really sad because I just rescued a little cocker from a Puppy farm, and she is like a puppy even though she’s five and my older dog just gets up and leaves when she comes near. I was hoping it would stop but apparently not always.

I think dogs can be jealous. But in all fairness, the younger one is a pest and tries to eat his food and grab a snack for him out of my hands after she's had hers. We love them both anyway. Hope yours get along better over time.
