Yesterday, WIRED learned that Madison Square Garden was suing us for our accurate reporting. We stand by our work. That’s why we’re removing the paywall from two of the MSG stories they don’t want you to read, making them free for everyone.

Screw Dolan and suing you is absurd, but your framing of having a list (separate from the risk list) of public lgbtqia celebs is b.s.. They have pride night! It's about who to invite. Ad agencies, casting directors, etc all have those lists too. Get Dolan, but disappointing stuff from ya'll

They are just following Trump's strategies against the truth. Fight to end, and if that's not enough... Go beyond the end. But never let them win! WE THE PEOPLE, are more than them. 👊🏾

Good on you @wired.com for standing firm. The squeeze tactic of suing outlets for accurate reporting is chilling, and dropping the paywall is a smart move. More people reading the actual reporting is the best response to that kind of pressure.

Can we talk about that this story came in April and was quickly followed by another story about Dolan’s homophobia; and Taylor Swift still had her wedding there and gave her guest party favors on NYC trash.

That is terrifying. I don't think I would ever go to MSG after reading that. It just seems menacing, and I don't want to put any of my money in Dolan's pocket.

That poor woman! Living your best life and then finding out you've been under intense surveillance has to really mess with your head. I hope she's doing well.

This month, we published another article revealing that MSG kept a database of VIP event attendees, labeling some of them as LGBTQIA and assigning a “risk score” to others. This is also now free to read:

wired.comMadison Square Garden Kept a List of Gay CelebritiesAn MSG database tracked and categorized hundreds of celebs, famous Knicks superfans, and even some of Taylor Swift’s wedding guests. Labels included “LGBTQIA,” “DO NOT HOST,” and low to high “risk.”

Whoa 😳 What kind of weird shit is this? Really? Thank you for sharing this information with us We need massive guardrails on surveillance and stricter laws protecting our privacy

Does this paranoid list and facial scanning just apply to people who attend sporting events at the Garden or does it include music fans, too? If so, I would think the list would be even longer. I could be on it. I've gone to concerts there & have associations Dolan woudn't approve of.

Ohhhh, I think I get it now. Something makes you keep it pay only for a certain number of days. Just hoping that it's out of fear of and respect for your paying customers and not that it's a play for more subs

If he follows the practice of his cult leader--the Pedo-Führer--he'll drop the lawsuit when it gets to the discovery stage. Oops--now I'm banned from MSG, Radio City Music Hall, & the Sphere. Oh, well....

Honestly, with how stubborn he is with everything, I expect it to get to Discovery and his hubris will cost him everything. Folding is very possible, though. Either one would be a fun outcome, especially if it means he had to pay up.

Yeah, it seems like terrible legal advice to open you client up to a 100x Streisand Effect by suing journalists who would love to report on everything their lawyers make you reveal.
