Literally the only cases when I felt bad for the parent was when their child was struggling with addiction and they cut contact when their parent refused to enable them or when the child was in an abusive relationship and their abuser isolated them from friends and family (which happened to my bro).
What, no-one's linked to Issendai yet? We're slacking, people! Jesus Christ, they dragged out Doormat Mom... and I love that acknowledgement that abusive people are bad, immediately followed by a complaint that the offspring are using "labels such as... 'abusive'"!
Oh wow, it was actually WSJ who did the first Doormat Mom apologia at Christmas lol (I'd forgotten that)
perennial dipshit @ebernsteinwsj.bsky.social is no lomger active on bluesky. I can only imagine its because she is a soft baby who does not enjoy being told she is both horrible and wrong
A therapist we relied on in an urgent MH situation performed EMDR on our 15yo daughter w/o our knowledge or permission. Believed every self-serving lie she told him. Cut me out of the therapeutic picture immediately. Told her I was "toxic". Told my then-husband that I shouldn't be left alone w/ her.
