It really is too bad that more high-profile Dems didn't come to Elissa Slotkin's defense last week. A huge amount rids on whether the narrative we propound about the election is 1) Dems won to hold Trump accountable or 2) Dems won because prices are too high. 🧵 www.offmessage.net/p/wheres-the...

offmessage.netWhere’s The Music? This election is a referendum on Trump’s attempt to rule as king. Democrats should close on putting down his rebellion, no matter what happens to the price of diesel.

This is important because it is a widespread myth which does not seem to be grounded in empirical evidence.

While the election result in #Brazil is obviously good news, we should remember that countless American wannabe-fascists poured $billions into achieving the opposite result and now have nothing to show for it, so it's not just good news, but also objectively hilarious.

Thinking about this some more. One interesting consequence of the more universal ownership limit is that it would functionally kill corporate subsidiaries.

Feels like there should be a rule that when you're an executive at a publicly traded company, you can't own more than like 10% of the voting power. Or, probably better still, no one individual or organization should be allowed to own that much of a company.

I'd like to propose a certain kind of wealth tax: Every year, the 50 wealthiest individuals are subjected to a 50% wealth tax. If they lack asset liquidity to pay promptly, *all* their assets are siezed until an appropriate amount of wealth can be unwound. Treat evading this tax as treason.

$446 million of his (sometime) reported net worth of $1 trillion means he’s still only spending 0.0446% of his net worth to try to buy elections. put in more concrete terms: if you had $100, this would be like spending less than 5 cents. now tell me again why i should vote against a wealth tax.
