'Scruffy' looks like an Ashmead's Kernel / Blenheim Orange tribute act to me. Lovely bit of russeting, great colour and Adam says the sweetness, acid, juice and crunch are all good. If I was based in the US I'd definitely buy this one, over and over again π
Looks like an heirloom. Crunches like a Honeycrisp. Great flavor. Not conventionally pretty. So does this one stand a chance in supermarkets? adamapples.blogspot.com/2026/10/scru...

You should look, really look, at an apple. adamapples.blogspot.com/2009/02/caly...
It's a cutthroat business. But I still recommend Jonagold to Honeycrisp fans. adamapples.blogspot.com/2016/11/a-ju...

"Trowbridge Apple Festival went ahead on Saturday, October 10, after organisers made a last-ditch plea for donations when the exceptionally hot and dry summer left many local trees without enough fruit." (via Wiltshire Times)
The qualities of Yellow B, including those for cooking, have been ecliped by its reputation as the seed-parent of Hawkeye, AKA Delicious.
We have the first ripe Yellow Bellflower apples from LeMaister Farm at the farm stand. These long yellow apples have a delicious sweet-tart flavor (somewhat similar to Gravenstein) when eaten fresh and a lush lecture when baked into pies (and other apple confections).

Always makes me glad when I hear people are still growing the old apples. adamapples.blogspot.com/2019/10/tomp...
Thank you, Leo, and your collegues
"Leo" sent this pic from the cosmic crisp apple harvest. "This apple is very delicate & must be cut carefully at the stem. Quality is a must or you could be fired. The average worker picks six 900lb bins in an 8 hr day, but there are workers who make much less." #WeFeedYou

The last time I organised a fruit show in the village it was pretty big. We had over 200 varieties on display over a weekend where we also had fruit IDing & sold cider. Was a pretty nice event. Tomorrowβs display will be considerably smaller, but I still wanted to do it. photos are 2024 obviously π
Half Honeycrisp, half Cripps Pink (Pink Lady to you): A winner! adamapples.blogspot.com/2026/10/scar...
Every apple has a story.
This apple is a Merton Worcester, created in 1914 by crossing Worcester Pearmain with Cox Orange Pippin. This was one of the first apples developed by John Innes Horticultural Institute after it was founded in 1910. @johninnescentre.bsky.social, now in Norwich, continue to focus on plant science.
Hello, has anyone seen BALDWIN, this apple is overdue this year! adamapples.blogspot.com/2008/12/bald...
