Friends, please help spread the word about our microbiology REU program at Montana State University. www.montana.edu/mbi/reu/ Each student receives a stipend ($7000 for 10 wks). Travel compensation, room, and board are also provided. Details in the attached pic--Feb 14 deadline 🧫🧪🦠#microsky

Truly the best crew. Grateful for and proud of everything we’ve done together. Here’s to the next five years! 🥂🎄🎅🏽

The pandemic 5 (and Matt, haha). Starting a lab in 2020 and dealing with all the NIH changes has been easier because of all of you ❤️ @adforu.bsky.social @hemannlab.bsky.social

A new #ScienceSignaling study reveals how salivary glands respond and regenerate after they are damaged by radiation from either proton or photon therapy, which could guide future efforts to promote salivary gland recovery. https://scim.ag/4oMc8DU

The BWF New Awardee meeting has been so inspirational. The stories and passion shared are a powerful reminder of the impact we can all make in science. Super stoked to be part of this awesome PATH cohort!

We are currently in the process of recruiting a technician. 🥼🐭🔬 If you know anyone with enthusiasm to learn new skills and stamina to hear me go on and on about IFNs, please have them reach out to me for more details!

Midwest Virology Symposium was amazing. Strong Ohio representation from friends at OSU and Cleveland Clinic 📸. Huge thanks to colleagues at the University of Kentucky for being generous hosts and putting together a fantastic program to showcase our trainees’ work. #MidwestVirology #MVS

10 years ago, SCOTUS made a landmark decision to extend marriage rights and allowed me to finally say yes to a life together with a wonderful human evening. She rocks my world! #anniversary

🎉 Over the moon to share the first paper from my lab!! We discovered an unexpected role for the cytokine OSM in lung epithelial homeostasis and repair. 🧵 1/n www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

📄🧫🔬🐭What are you reading this weekend? Check out @catmphelps.bsky.social, @meisellab.bsky.social, et al’s brand new work! #H2P

Real Kings value higher learning. Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia, founded Univerzita Karlova in Prague in 1348. This is the alma mater of many great minds including physiologist Jan Purkyně (Purkinje). His microscope is on display at the National Museum in Prague.

Now in #Science #Immunology: Philips, O'Shea, &al. made mice w human pathogenic #STAT1 activating mutation. Mice had #IFNg -dependent #autoimmunity, but their innatelike lymphocytes produced suboptimal IFNg during viral infection. Exogenous IFNg🚫virus-induced lethality, suggesting possible therapy!
