Next time one of you all snaps a photo of an Oregon official's secret DM/Text/Signal/etc.; please consider hitting me up before you let them in on the secret.

For some reason I can't stop thinking about how much more grotesque Tyrion was in the book, and how using (the v. v. pretty 🫠) Dinklage to play him discarded important hints about his provenance.

I am exhausted of the City's public records shenanigans. I sued the city and beat it to release the secret decoder ring to figure out which cops were beating and gassing people during the protests after George Floyd's murder. @councilorgreen.bsky.social @councilormorillo.bsky.social

The Portland Police Bureau tracks the number of use of force incidents. That information is kept in a large dataset PPB made available on its public dashboard. The one thing the data doesn’t show: who's doing what. >> www.portlandmercury.com/news/anonymo...

It’s wild that no other media outlet besides the Mercury is covering the Dan Ryan text saga…like, these lobbyists were calling councilors of color racial epithets. They called me a burrito. Meanwhile there were ten million stories about daddy gate, but crickets on this? Disparity in standards

I have been off work for a while for (see previous post) — but want to elevate this deeply odd story. A lot of interesting choices being made here.

Okay now I’m actually starting to keep count on the number of Oregon cases where public records are being held back.

Dan Ryan is under a court order not to delete messages from his personal phone, which may contain public records. In court documents, Ryan said he no longer has the phone he's been using, because his spouse traded it in the same day a judge barred him from deleting records. He says nothing was lost.

Q for the attorneys in the house: if Ryan is conducting city business on his personal phone - even only occasionally - couldn't using auto-delete be seen as a deliberate, systematic attempt to evade public records requirements?

Update says that Dan Ryan apologized to the Mercury! This is good. Next I hope they poke around at whether Ryan has been texting privately about city business, in violation of public records laws.

And here I thought our $4000 was ridiculous! Oregon records law needs more guardrails to prevent public officials who are simply bad actors.

How much does it cost to get more information about a cop who punched someone in the face? If you guessed anything lower than $2.5 million, you’d be wrong — at least according to the city of Eugene, Oregon. buff.ly/AlxYU8S
