I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape."

I know it’s really distasteful and dispiriting and gross to think about, but you won’t understand Trumpist politics or the status of women if you don’t understand that a lot of people aren’t just in denial about the prevalence of rape; they are affirmatively pro-rape.
I don’t think this is exactly what’s going on, or all that’s going on. It’s not that Republicans are constructing an elaborate psychological defense against evidence that Trump is a rapist. It’s that they like that he’s a rapist, and they like rape: it enacts the power of the strong over the weak.
The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because it’s pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.
When Clinton was president he had a consensual* sexual encounter with a willing adult and it was just about the only thing the country heard about for the better part of a year.
*sort of, more or less, it's hard to evaluate given the power dynamics involved
Look it's 2026 and I know "the president is a rapist" is already baked in to everyone's opinion but the president of the United States is a fucking rapist and I would really appreciate it if the media would treat this like the major earth-shattering scandal that it should be.
NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report.
Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.
Meanwhile, Jake Tapper and the NYT continue to ignore Trump's obvious mental decline...his filters are gone, every rally is incoherent and wildly racist--NYT is even more dishonest--framing Alaska lawsuit as a legitimate "tactic", instead of lawless voter intimidation🙄
The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.
interestingly this interest in black voters doesn’t extend to the republican effort to deprive them of federal representation, nor do they seem interested in asking whether republican candidates are burdened by the fact that trump talks like a klansman
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights:
“I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”
These undecided interviews reveal that any person suggesting there's one neat trick that will appeal to them is full of shit.
Undecided voters are: 1) People who want to vote R, but know they shouldn't; 2) they're prejudiced & reason backwards; or 3) they simultaneously hold contradictory positions
The horrific shooting of a 1 year old baby by law enforcement, which was justified by the Mississippi Attorney General, has shocked the conscience of the nation. I hope and pray Scott Colom wins.
6. The various protests keep getting into violence thanks to the police and outsiders people using it to be violent. And thanks to the Far Left party continuing to say "we support it", it makes the Far Right appear "responsible" when they're all crazy as shit
It's bleak that Serious News Outlets will tie themselves into knots writing headlines that obscure the horrors of a story while @people.com just waltzes in and calls it like it is.
Who's in charge of this country because it sure isn't us and it doesn't even appear to be the government anymore
A bunch of paunchy moon-faced degenerate dead-eyed parasites forming a human centipede of investment in each others' vanity conglomerates, not a scintilla of civic virtue among them
So the same month that Elon Musk throttled Starlink to run his own military policy, he's also seeking more control over your flow of information. Musk and the Ellisons will control CNN and CBS for news; HBO, Warner Bros, Paramount & more for entertainment; Twitter (X) and TikTok for social media.
the tennessee holler sucks actual ass but citing Hoodline, an actual AI website that steals content, and not the countless Texas reporters who worked on this story and also getting details of the story wrong in their post (it's not from wyoming, it's just an llc registered there) is a new low!
Diabolical — Republicans appear to be sending fake pro-trans/LGBTQ mailers from Wyoming directly to kids in Texas (not their parents!) to piss off voters
Let's extend the news cycle and nationalize what should have been issue contained to OH is dumb-as-a-catfish dumb. Like you people play with blocks dumb.
Vance says "we are not going to attack someone based on anonymously sourced story" - man, you said Haitians were eating pets based on nothing.
A big problem for the Trump administration is that there are no clean hands. At this point, everyone looks corrupt or a hypocrite.

Unearthed footage of Vivek Ramaswamy mocking Amy Acton for being a survivor of childhood abuse:
"She has no vision other than to complain about what someone else did to her"
