This is the most real life Bluesky exchange ever.

OBAMA: Sir, I’m not the President of the United States, currently. So, there’s no point in shouting at me. I’m not in charge of foreign policy currently.

There's a reckoning coming for DSA. Either they'll get serious about their leadership and platform, or their candidates won't be allowed to run in Democratic primaries anymore.

Peter Sterne@petersterne.com

NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions today aimed at Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, beginning processes that could result in DSA-LA being forced to rescind its endorsement of her this weekend and/or Raman herself being expelled from DSA by January.

El-Sayed on Trump's cognitive tests: "I went to medical school...In my neurology unit, I would have to give that MoCA exam...The only people that you give a MoCA test to are people who you worry may have cognitive deficits. By definition, if you're taking one of those tests, something's wrong."

🚨BREAKING: We have moved for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction enjoining Trump from continuing to unconstitutionally impose themselves upon election administration procedures that the Constitution and federal law assign to the States.

Lenders agreed to do this, and personally, I give zero fucks if they failed to accurately price the risk or hedge. Sorry, not sorry, if Tesla sells at 25 cents on the dollar and you have big write down coming.

Interesting approach by Mike Rogers to make his loyalty to Elon Musk & the oligarchy an explicit part of his campaign earlier this year. “When you stand with my Senate campaign today, you are directly shielding Elon Musk,” Rogers wrote. www.metrotimes.com/news/mike-ro...

Bobby Kennedy Sr. is clawing at the coffin in an effort to dig out of his grave and strangle his son right now.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

We just saw someone who isn't Trump absolutely destroy their own campaign after deciding that he too was immune to the rule of basic decency, and I guess that Scott decided it worked so well Vivek, he'd give it go.

Tim Scott calls Annie Andrews "tranny Annie"

They're not getting elected to the Senate, but there are a number of Republicans who want Trump now, not in two years, now.

Jamie Dupree@jamiedupree.bsky.social

Two former Governors of South Carolina - one from each party - have endorsed Democrat Annie Andrews who is running against Sen. Darline Graham R-SC

This is just kind of sad at this point. Like the kid who made an ant farm for the school science fair, but did it too early, and now half the ants are dead.

"libertarian candidate for state senate in north carolina is currently in a shootout with the cops and live-tweeting his planned suicide", while not exactly surprising, is still a weird thing to read

This is kind of hilarious and I'd be a lot more interested in where this was going if I hadn't already seen legions of companies/industries make a donation before this, and have the proposed reform vanish into the abyss.

Biden literally placed sanctions on settlers, so Finer maybe should have paid better attention.

It seems pretty clear that Athropic is looking for an exit strategy at this point and that they're just pointing out there are three large companies who could all bid to buy it. Nothing wrong with that, it's just weird to be doing it when you're on the cusp of going public.

El-Sayed: "If you, like me, are sick and tired of wondering why we had to dodge lettuce all summer, wondering why the guy who leads HHS literally takes his grandkids swimming in shit's creek? I think we all could agree we probably need a public health senator right about now."

Leaking classified materials to anyone currently, or formerly employed by the Nation or Intercept is generally a bad idea, but if you do it during the Trump administration, the administration is going to find out and you're going to go to jail. It's not a coincidence that it keeps happening.

thehill.comGlenn Greenwald defends journalist whose CIA boyfriend allegedly leaked classified infoOPINION: A CIA contractor was arrested by the FBI for allegedly leaking classified information to his journalist girlfriend, who has written articles talking about “classified CIA assessments…

Greenwald is defending a former colleague, who was not even charged, but has absolutely nothing to say about her source who will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. These folks are not who they claim to be and they make it quite obvious.

The Trump administration firing a civil service employee citing only Article II of the Constitution is an assertion that the civil service laws are unconstitutional. The only question is whether SCOTUS discovers limits to executive power the closer we get to the possibility of a D POTUS.

politico.comTrump admin illegally fired Maurene Comey, judge rulesMaurene Comey, a federal prosecutor and the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, sued DOJ over her abrupt firing after she was terminated without explanation.

The bigger question is why did the Plain Dealer, Blade, and Dispatch endorse Vivek in the first place? He's basically a Randian proponent of Social Darwinism who acquired his wealth under suspicious circumstances. The fact that he also lacks a moral compass doesn't explain the initial endorsement.

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

The Ramaswamy ad has pushed the largest newspaper in Ohio, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, to reverse its position on endorsements. "A candidate who uses childhood sexual abuse as a weapon against the person who endured it has crossed a line that Ohioans should defend, whatever their party."

And tbqh, I'm worried about publications that endorsed Vivek reversing, but later endorsing Husted, who was involved in the HB6 scandal up to his eyeball, serving as a ticket splitting permission structure.

I think the better, and unasked, question is whether internal polls that aren't public might be leaking into the prediction markets. Not to suggest that people who get a percentage of ad buys, and always recommend more ad buys, might have be acting out of their own self-interest or anything.

The powerful executives who cozied up to Trump didn't oops accidentally forget about pendulum swings. They either: 1) Like the fascism 2) Calculated it was here to stay, so going along was savvy 3) Saw no real downside, no consequences when the pendulum swung Crucial to show them 3 was a mistake

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

That this is in THE WASHINGTON POST is almost too much irony to bear.

More people on Bluesky should think carefully about engaging with small I'm-not-voting accounts that become more active after Labor Day in an election year. They're not trying to win the argument, they just want to have the argument and boost visibility.

The appropriate response to I'm-not-voting is *good for you, now fuck off.* Don't entertain their *reasons,* their reasons, even if true, don't matter. You don't show up when it's too late to get what you want and demand something that cannot be delivered if you're acting in good faith.

The fact that this is STILL, even now, going on after Nixon, Flanagan and El-Sayed all won their primary elections is a giant tell that this is not about something you can actually deliver to these people.

Not for nothing, but the fact that WH correspondence dinner has the potential for producing such a horrific outcome is reason enough to just end the practice.

When all is said and done, I expect that close to $1B is going to be spent trying to beat Brown, El-Sayed, and Talarico. Those races would not be toss ups without that money. They'd already be lost to Rs without it.
