Environment, books, and legal stuff are my thing. Mid-life JD and dang proud. It’s never too late. Unless you’re dead, but even then …who knows? (lettertoalison at the old place)

This brought tears. Oh my. You never know who you touch with your choices. Turn on the porch light for others.

So we fly a pride flag in our front yard in a very conservative neighborhood and it’s been there for the last few years. Someone put this in our mailbox and my goodness…

In 31 years, the dearly beloved Dolly Parton gifted approximately 332,411,218 books to kids all over the world with her Imagination Library true heroes 🦋📖 We get to honor Dolly. We get to give like Dolly. We get to support literacy like Dolly. We love you, Dolly Parton! Our Queen of Book Joy 🌈 ✨

Had the pleasure of seeing Yo-Yo Ma, James Taylor, Jon Batiste, Aoife O’Donovan, Bryan Stevenson, Heather Cox Richardson and more perform last night at Tanglewood. After a downpour, together we manifested clear skies and a joyous celebration of the power of music.

While this admin argues that federal law should govern greenhouse gases, it also argues that the Clean Air Act greenhouse gas finding should be struck and that the CAA does not cover GHG.

Very thoughtful article. Worth a read.

Attorneys who work in climate litigation need to (1) make better use of climate attribution science and (2) address the legal standards of causation, which are at odds with scientific standards. Glad to see attribution modeling continuing to improve!

Denmark's coal-to-wind transition is one of the most dramatic energy transformations of the past three decades. In 1990, coal provided 90% of Danish electricity. Today it is under 3%. Wind now covers roughly 60% of electricity generation. The last coal plant is scheduled to close by 2028.

Thank you for saying this out loud. Get on the phone with your colleagues. Emergency sessions immediately. A scared nation looks to you.

Senator Ed Markey@markey.senate.gov

Completely unstable and perilous. The House must bring up impeachment articles, and the Senate needs to remove a president who wants to commit war crimes. We cannot sit idly by as Donald Trump threatens to end an entire civilization.

The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me. It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."

New England needs a crash program to replace fuel oil/propane heating with heat pumps.

NY fuel prices update. Looks like diesel prices could be the real killer heading into the summer, with agriculture (among other industries) relying on it heavily. See my story from the last war-driven energy price shock: nysfocus.com/2022/09/06/d...

I don't think either political party -- or anyone in politics, really -- is thinking in ambitious enough terms about the electricity grid. We need to start thinking of it as the foundation of our 21st century economy & prosperity. It needs to be rethought, rebuilt, & made a solid base for growth.

This is amazing. When the government kills a crucial report, independent scientists decide to write it anyway and release it outside of government channels. That’s science serving society, even when our political leaders don’t.
