I’m very critical of Tina Kotek and people need to vote for her anyway. There’s no ranked choice in this race. The governor has the power to call in the national guard, or affect voting. That alone is too important. Christine Drazan is too dangerous. Hold your nose and do it.

Was just looking to see if we could still get Brandi Carlile tickets and there is nothing under $900. What are we even doing here. This is the 3rd time in the last week where I’ve looked up ticket prices for a show and laughed out loud.

I'm on the board of a small nonprofit and as we were discussing if we should hire a bookkeeper, because the org is growing, one of my fellow board members suggested instead of hiring someone we should just use AI. I've never wanted to jump through the screen more...

What I hope most people take from this article: we need to prioritize the education of every child through our own actions and the policies we support, even if you aren’t a parent. If you do become a parent, you have to navigate the system that is available to you, and that system is fucked.

New from Nikole Hannah-Jones: In fighting for every Black child, Did I betray my own? ‘A decade ago, I made a decision about my daughter’s education that I hoped would challenge NYC’s unequal school system. Now 16, she thinks I made the wrong choice’

When our first kiddo was ready for kindergarten we had to make a choice: neighborhood public school, charter, or private. We chose our neighborhood school, but we we were very much in the minority of that decision.

White parents have to start showing up. We have to stop being afraid our kids will not be in the best of the best. We have to believe that community and diversity matter too.

My girl Jess King played Dolly’s version of The Entertainer at the end the Peloton ride I took today. I learned it’s really hard to hold speed while also crying 😢 🦋

Y’all, at the Portland Fire game tonight they did a Corgi race at halftime. The level of booing that occurred when the dog won because his owner led him on a lease was inspiring. It was so loud they had a redo of the race lol

We like to take the family down to Government Camp every summer for a few days to hike and enjoy Trillium Lake. We just had to leave early due to the fires and when we messaged our host to let them know they started arguing with us about what the true AQI levels are 🤦‍♀️

I am grateful to @councilorkanal.bsky.social the only District 2 rep who has shown an ounce of courage in the Moda Center talks. We will not forget.

Councilor Sameer Kanal@councilorkanal.bsky.social

We've waited since February (at least), since we first learned the state was working on SB 1501, for a chance to talk about what a deal could look like for Moda renovations. After months of backroom negotiations, executive sessions, work sessions with no testimony, & listening sessions... 1/

After today's discussion and rejection of any attempt to strengthen the City's draft Moda Center term sheet, I am less and less convinced that it's worth making this public investment even if EVERY item in that term sheet is agreed to by the team (it won't be).

Open letter to voters from 7 current and former Portland School Board members regarding the Multnomah County Chair election. Threaded below.

Probably my least popular opinion is that if the Blazers do leave, Portland will be just fine. We are a fun, creative, quirky city with the ability to obsess over things we love and that love us back ❤️

the strategy is becoming more clear ...

Councilor Candace Avalos@counciloravalos.bsky.social

“It was a really disappointing offer that was not hard at all to turn thumbs down on and realize that there was not much seriousness on the other end to get a deal done,” Calabro said, “which is fine if you want to end the relationship. Well, that’s one way to do it, I suppose.” 🧐

I had an unfortunate argument with one of my neighbors the other day night but, don’t worry, days later I’ve figured out what I should have said.

It just keeps getting more and more absurd.

Multiple Portland city councilors say they never saw the term sheet for the Moda Center renovation deal before the mayor and city administrators sent it to the Blazers. This contradicts what the city said in a press release at 4:45 p.m. last night, suggesting council had reviewed it. Read more:

Replying to @jamellebouie.net

the question isn't "do you have faith in the democrats" the question is "do you have faith in the ability of people to work collectively to impose their will on the political system?"

If you missed the City Council Moda Working Session, here are the headline items that came out of it. The biggest discovery: Tom Dundon already owes the city hundreds of millions of dollars due to his responsibility to keep the Arena "first-class". 🤯 www.ripcitynotripoff.com/work-session

Portland people: don't sign the "Safer Portland" initiative. Canvassers are lying to voters: this measure raids the clean energy fund to hire more cops.

Cascadia Journal@cascadiajournal.bsky.social

A campaign to use Portland clean energy funds to hire more cops has been lying to voters, a Spokane wildfire forces evacuations, and Black and brown birding groups in Seattle. This, and more news from across the #Cascadia bioregion: www.cascadia-journal.com/cascadia-tod...
