Grok rn

Kasey Kagawa@punkey.org

So Starship Ship 36 just detonated *before* the static fire test - fueled and waiting for the test. Looks like the top tank lets go and sets off the whole stack. It would be bad enough if it let go during the static fire test, but it just blew up. And it's cooking off the fuel tanks on the pad.

Marco Rubio just announced 10 more people were sent to be imprisoned in CECOT. They were flown there from Gitmo to be imprisoned potentially for life based not on any crime for which they were convicted, but on unproven allegations of gang membership with no due process. This is not lawful.

what booker is doing right now is an example of what i mean when i say things like “we need more ambition right now.” there is room in american politics right now for people with ambition to take big stands and reap the rewards. he’s doing it!

Hearing nonsense that Ds are threatening a shutdown. False. Entire matter is in GOP hands. What's happening is that Rs are coming hat in hand to Ds for help because they can't agree among themselves. Ds shld have a simple demand. No help until the criminal conduct stops.

This is not a U.S. Marshal, Federal Protective Service, or any other federal law enforcement officer. This is a private security guard from Triple Canopy. He has no authority to block members of Congress who have oversight of the EPA from entering the building.

Senator Ed Markey@markey.senate.gov

We were just denied entrance into the EPA after asking to meet with a DOGE representative. More to come.

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

I don't care what RFK Jr. says or thinks about chronic disease or whatever. Nothing could outweigh the damage this guy could do to national health. @brandyzadrozny.bsky.social has dug up a slew of new outrages. There's no end to the dangers he poses.

New: Recordings from private autism conferences show Trump HHS pick Robert F. Kennedy Jr. vilifying & conspiracy theorizing about agencies he's set to lead. Videos show RFK Jr comparing CDC vaccine programs to "Nazi death camps" & calling for researchers to be jailed. www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...

I’m late on this, but I think elitism can be boiled down to an embrace of cultural & institutional complexities. It’s the experts that try to explain that while inflation was terrible it was a global phenom, or that some folks have gender preferences that can seem surprising to others -but here are

either people specify what they mean when they say “elite” or the term is just meaningless pejorative. both parties are dominated by elites in any conventional sense of what that means! the question is: why are right-wing elites more palatable to voters than liberal ones?

If societal problems are -easy- then those who run them are either corrupt, idiots, or both. This is also how we get to the Joe Rogan issue. His reach is what it is because because he engages in a way that communicates to his audience, “this isn’t that difficult, we can figure it out on the fly”

the (valid) reasons why these nuances are important to understanding how to feel about things. The opposing argument is not only a different take on particular issues; it’s an assault on the idea that issues are often complex and require context to understand them.

Chilling. Internal email that led to identifying Pete Hegseth as potential "Insider Threat" in National Guard.⬇️ It was clearly due to his tattoo "associated with Supremacist groups." On air, Hegseth has FALSELY claimed the reason was for a different (religious) tattoo. apnews.com/article/trum...

Excellent piece. “You are the media” feels like the right lens - assumes that societal problems are easy to solve therefore institutions must be corrupt. No facts all vibes.

Here's me hinking out loud about 'the media' & this election. How it felt like lots of ppl were confused abt how much influence the press has/should have. How its very hard to know what moves the needle. How things need to change, even if its not totally clear how www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...
