Right. It's week one of "I have no idea what time it is in other parts of the world" as the EU moved to Standard Time this past weekend and parts of NA will move to Standard Time this coming weekend. Meanwhile, in Vancouver, we're stuck with Daylight Saving Time (erm, "Pacific Time" now I guess)

Complex industrial firefighting at Hfx Grain Elevator. The fire is located about 135 feet above ground within the facility’s dust management system, presenting significant access and tactical considerations. Crew are operating deliberately and aggressively, supported by aerial and drone operations.

I suppose the one good thing about such a large BCCP majority is that Lorne Doerkson can expel a good handful of "misbehaving" MLAs without running the risk of losing government.

Photo from Reddit. White nationalists just outside the BC Legislature this morning after a BC Cons supermajority. This group is Loyalist Pioneers, a white nationalist organization virtually identical to Second Sons. They've been active around Victoria for about a year & a half.

Day 1 after the Conservatives won a super majority: white nationalists gathering across the street from the BC legislature. Gonna be a long and hard 4 years. Take care of each other, friends. Don't stop fighting back and standing up for what's right, but take care of yourselves and each other first.

So Premier Eby resigns, and presumably the BCNDP will appoint an interim leader. The BCCP just won an election with an interim leader. BC politics is off the scale.

Today's date, 24/10/26 (or 10/24/26 to some), is the last time in our lives that those three numbers will make up a Pythagorean triple! In other words, 24Β²+10Β²=26Β², and that's the last such pattern of this century

And this election is going to go down as one of the biggest footguns in BC politics.

I have a feeling turnout is going to be low this election; ElectionsBC has not made it easy this time around.

Can people spread the word, this election is being run with 2020 rules? ASSIGNED VOTING PLACE, and an assigned ballot box. If you are NOT at your assigned box, you vote absentee (multi-envelope). BUT bonus, elections BC has no easy way to find out your assigned box number other than your card

Protected bike lanes aren't really for the 10000 km/yr cyclist. They're for the person who wants to ride 500 km/yr but doesn't feel safe or comfortable. There are a lot more of those people than 10000 km/yr avid cyclists.

Matt Elliott@graphicmatt.com

"Look, nobody rides more bikes than I do. I rode 10,000 kilometres last year," brags Bradford. He says he's "the only candidate that has a plan to build new cycling infrastructure β€” we're just going to do it in our ravine network."

To the people who are still talking about how Canada is "not taking Alberta seriously" -- what on earth are you talking about? The PM is an Albertan. The leader of the opposition is an Albertan. Our national politics revolve around Alberta's interests and concerns. What else do you want?
