DIE, DEPRESS, DETEST. A live, laugh, love girl gets swept away by an anarchist dyke who blazes a path of anti-capitalist, terrorist destruction straight to the White House. (My Queer New Wave film that never was... But could still be!)

A famous, gay country singer who went to theatre school and performs as a masked persona...? Of course he's an addict. (Also, I love him.)

Funny thing about American mass media is how woke content is broadly popular, routinely pays for itself, and sometimes goes blockbuster, whereas right-wing content is a narrow niche that rarely reaches breakeven, never goes blockbuster, and usually requires immense subsidies for it to exist at all.

(10/11) Is making art right now insufficient? Of course. We have civic and moral duties and responsibilities to pursue. But we don't have to do that in our art. We can but don't have to.

(11/11) So, please: go throw a pot today or sing a song or write a poem. It doesn't have to be as frivolous as STARLIGHT EXPRESS, but it can be. Create the world they want to destroy. [Originally posted to IG, where it is known that I saw STARLIGHT EXPRESS twice last week! Lol.]

(8/11) It is the life they are trying so hard to destroy. It is the introspection that confuses them. It is the human intelligence that they cannot emulate artificially.

(6/11)Any well-informed artist/critic/historian could have told you that Futurism leads to fascism. That the tech bro valuing technology and innovation over humanity ends in concentration camps.

(7/11) Creation simply to create, to communicate, and to express humanity — not to innovate, progress, or profit (financially or in power accumulation) — is the cure to the world these profiteers, murderers, and tech lords are manifesting.

(4/11)The essays are the collected musings of a queer artist/aesthete who is so clearly struggling with the fact that his very domestic work seems unimportant or ill-timed in a world falling to fascists and their enablers (in the WWII era).

(5/11) I have absolutely felt like making art right now is a mistake. But, still, we should. Even if it's only because art and history are the ultimate records of human mistakes and how to avoid or overcome them.

(2/11)Social media is limited in expressing a life, especially as I mostly use it as a photo album, especially in times where a large portion of our lives is so harrowing and violent that we wouldn't want to keep visual memories of it.

(3/11) But indulge me as I reflect on celebrating at such a terrible moment in human history and the history of the United States. You have to. I AM FIFTY. I have been getting immense comfort reading Persephone Book's "Two Cheers for Democracy! A Selection" by E.M Forster.

When you delete the Starbucks mobile app off your phones, it sends a direct message: there is no business as usual while baristas are fighting for a fair union contract and end to union busting. Delete the app, then add your name below! action.fightforaunion.org/a/starbucks-...

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness. You could be next.

Nenko Gantchev should still be alive—home with his family. After 30 years contributing to Chicagoland as a small business owner and taxpayer, ICE detained him, ignored his medical needs, and he died in custody. This system is cruel, reckless, and must be held accountable.

Y'all. See WAKE UP DEAD MAN before it leaves theatres 12/3. It should be seen on a big screen without the temptation to second-screen while watching. It is, once again, completely different from the previous films, and solidifies that Benoit Blanc can go on forever. I LOVED IT!!!
