What @freemix.fm is doing is so ambitious, well executed from the jump, and just so freaking *cool*. They created an entire music platform with a built-in sharing and licensing system, all on atproto. You gotta see it.

It started with a dream 20 years ago... 10 months of work with a lot of help from the AT Proto community, Bluesky, and friends. FreeMix is live!!! Open to all and all genres welcome. Free to join. I can't wait to see what you create. (oh and some exclusive tracks by me ready to be remixed)

Beautiful visuals. And great article.

My thoughts on the current state of AI driven software development, why I'm no longer concerned about a runaway intelligence explosion, and what I think is a far worse outcome we could be walking into maevyn.codes/decoherence

Yesterday’s #treeoftheday I hadn’t cycled here in at least 4 years or so. Still one of the nicer and longer stretches of canal path (just a bit far out and a bit of a difficult entrance/exit depending on the direction you’re taking).

Saw some nice sights during yesterday’s bicycle ride in (greater) Bangkok. Some roads were still a bit moist from the floods. I think I went through stretches like the one in the first pic more than 25 times. Deepest was knee deep.

I’ve seen this video more than a few times. But it never ceases to amuse, amaze and inspire.

Replying to @schnaus.bsky.social

The intuition: models trained on different data seem to converge to a similar geometry (the Platonic Representation Hypothesis). Distances between concepts like food, people and animals look alike in both spaces. So is this shared geometry enough to align them?

My support for bluesky/atproto is pretty much explicitly a "political" project. It is bad for a small number of (mostly right-wing) people to literally own all the sources of media. Open-source algorithms + the ability to move your account without negative network effects opposes this.

Kayaking - On the Mae Khlong river from Kanchanaburi to Samut Songkhram. (114 km) - a little girl (4yo) on a walk with her mom helped me assemble my kayak - rain & lightning, had to take shelter - a snake caught a little fish - night kayaking #Kayaking #MaeKhlong

Every day I am happy I don’t drink coffee. Wake up, drink glass of water. Done. I drink coffee once or twice a year to see if I still don’t like it and every time: “yeap, this is meh.” And also, it never gives me any energy boost or whatever hit it is people say they get.

I am trying pretty hard to merely curtail my caffeine intake and I'm finding it considerably harder than stopping drinking alcohol outright.

Bangkok (And many others around the world)

Korawich Kavee@kkavee.urbanists.social.ap.brid.gy

For a city prone to flooding, you’d think reducing car dependency to prevent paving over impermeable surfaces would be a top priority.

Early October and we’re already going over 100 in many places in the city. (Not the first day this season that is meh. That was Sept 13th. But this one is worse) This might end up being a banger of a pollution season #pm2.5 #aqi

Seems just like Bangkok, where motonormativity is very much the modus operandi. #carsruincities

Your city might not be as far gone as Birmingham, but no matter where you live, you're likely to find familiar many of the aspects of @sarahchaundler.bsky.social's brilliant and now publicly available short film "City of Cars." Stop what you're doing and watch this.

We're so excited to see the arrival of Aster ID as a home for researchers on the open web and to welcome them to the @modalfoundation.eurosky.social family. Very lucky that we've been able to support their tech stack at Eurosky 💖

Aster ID@aster.id

The modern research ecosystem of online tools and communities is controlled by for-profit companies. But we think that researchers should be the priority - not the product. So, we're announcing Aster ID: not-for-profit Atmosphere account hosting for researchers.

Last Sunday I rode my recumbent in three countries: The Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. I crossed international borders 4 times, only twice marked by a sign, without carrying my passport. Europe isn't perfect; it needs work. But it's worth fighting for. I love Europe. #Europe #regel17 #cycling

Today is #HobbitDay because Bilbo and Frodo Baggins were both born on September 22nd. Normally we'd shire a hobbit pun or two but it might just feel like a tolkien gesture and we don't want to embarrass our elves. Anyway it's a good day to come and boromir #Tolkien books. 📚

I went into this summer as a photographer and came out of it as someone who has finally understood that the garden is not just a location, it's also a philosophy. The most powerful thing you can bring into the field isn't a better lens or a more dramatic location. It's a state of mind.

"In practice, ask Siri AI a question and you’ll never really know if it’s being computed on device or off." Whatever goes to Apple (or any US service) cloud servers, is subject to U.S. CLOUD Act, in direct conflict with EU Data Act. Also why you should move to EU ATProto if you haven't already.

Yesterday’s bike ride was lovely. I didn’t take too many pics because it was raining the first half. This route is quickly becoming a new favorite.

Siri (or other voice assistants) is always the first thing I turn off when getting a new phone. And os integrated ai is now the second thing. Deep access to my stuff, nope.
