About 15 years ago a friend showed me a power metal band, and said "you gotta check them out!" I made a mental note... and promptly forgot. Then, the few times I caught up with that friend over the years, I'd still forgotten. But today, I *think* I stumbled across the band - it was Kamelot!!

Count down to release - about a month to go! (December 1st) 'Dark Fang' is the conclusion to my Five Furies Trilogy (new readers could check out 'War Heart', due to be on sale soon) :) Cover art by the amazing Marcel Mosqi and text design from the awesome Christina P :D books2read.com/u/49rkyX

Long shadows drape patterns of light and dark across the snow-covered earth and still riverbed. This painting captures the tranquil beauty of winter. Prism Blues by Erin Hanson, 2024 Oil on canvas 60 x 72 in #winter #impressionism #art #artist #dailyart @bsky.art

I've mentioned before I've updated my contracts to make sure everything in the production of my books is done by humans and not "AI"; if you're wondering what such a thing looks like, here's a clause covering that from a recent contract.

Re: the most recent disappointment from Metallica, a few times I noticed posts along the lines of "this proves Megadeth is better" and I have to wonder whether these posters are aware of Mustaine's views at all? I mean, come on now.

Still trying to decide whether I use my sci-fi penname for this space opera or whether I stick with my regular name, as per my epic fantasy stuff. There's plenty of cross-over between the genres, so I doubt my existing readers would mind, but I'd like to catch the eye of new readers also...

Definitely didn't see "Art Spiegelman using genAI due to laziness" coming, but I'm all out of 'surprise' by now, since some creative people just have a sickness when it comes to screwing over other creative people

I'm obsessed with the translucent wings of Luna Moths 🌒🦋🌘 My original idea was to paint the moon phases on the wings and align it with her eyes but it became too many things. Next time I want to properly explore the moon phases on the wings 1/2 #LunaMoth #art #painting

Requiring everybody to use their full real name & location in all public comments would make a lot of women way more unsafe. So many men-commentators on 'society' don't consider that women often don't have the freedoms they take for granted. www.smh.com.au/national/i-b...

smh.com.auWe’ve been asked to ‘turn down the temperature’. Here’s how we startIt has become terribly clear that online anonymity helps many write or say things they’d never record if they knew they could be identified.

Having links on the profile is really cool! I just wish I had more places to send folks XD I thought about GR, but I don't use it heaps, so I reckon I'll just stick with my website for now. (It's nice to have the option to add these links, very pleased with this change to bluesky).

Got another one: "full disclosure" (My mute list is getting so long that I'm now worried about whether I'd be able to export it in case bluesky becomes full of fascists like twitter and I need to find a new social media space)

Going to keep using chapter titles in this book - this one might change before publication, but either way, it's really fun to use titles for a change: Plucking the Strings of a Golden Web

Years and years ago, two friends and I did a local radio show focused on rock, punk and metal every Thursday night. It was a lot of fun, but my main memory of the time was of all the asbestos warnings in *every* room XD

Anyone else find that their mind *instantly* switches off when a selfie-style talking head pops up in the feed? I still can't figure out all the reasons that 'video' isn't for me (beyond the scope of a film, tv series of music video, etc etc). Maybe it's a Joe Rogan / influencer effect, lol.

I feel as though "Dad rock" and "Dad metal" are terms that can now be retired. Especially since people of all ages listen to all eras of music, and always have. Really, both phrases just sound ridiculous. I mean, is anyone going to call Miles Davis "Dad Jazz"? Doubt it.

Just saw a post that said "AI is a great companion" and I wanted to believe it was a bot, but sadly, a person probably typed it - and quite sincerely. This garbage is causing so much damage to the vulnerable (in so many ways).

But as strange killings and stranger wildlife sightings plague her little Australian town, Lisa herself becomes one of the suspects. Desperate to clear her name and be rid of her ex, Lisa follows the trail of a giant white kangaroo spotted before several of the deaths.

Except the further she tracks it, the less natural the beast appears—and the more sinister both the woods and her ex become. Can Lisa solve the mystery and save herself before she becomes prey, or will she learn that deep in the eucalyptus forests, no one can hear you scream?

Wildlife ranger Lisa Thomas is no stranger to violence. When an abusive ex comes rolling into town and animal entrails not-so-mysteriously land on her doorstep, she knows full well who the culprit is.
