This is my final stop with social media. Never going back to Xitter and I don't use Facebook (or subsidiaries). I check here to stay engaged and that's about it. F*ck Trump and his lackeys and toadies.

The weeks after 9/11 were filled with unhinged Islamophobia and any claim that we were completely united explicitly places them on the outside of who you consider to be American

Senator Elissa Slotkin@slotkin.senate.gov

But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.

No to any election deniers. No to attempting to hand in FAKE ELECTORAL SLATES. That's a double-edged sword....hurts us all. Hurts the states and the country as a whole. WIN ON MERIT/the people's votes, not cheating. Thankful Mike Pence is loyal to democracy and denied corruption.

It's really sad that the person that occupies the biggest office in the world can never act like the bigger man. And a good portion of the population thinks that his infantilism is manliness.

I’m not an attorney and I’ve never even played one on TV, but it would seem to me that for an elected official to publicly state that they have spoken to Mitch McConnell in fact, they have not for the explicit purpose of preventing a special election would constitute a fraud upon the voters of KY

Why don't our schools get the funding they need? Because there's not a lobby for public schools. Kids don't have a corporate PAC. We must be willing to take on the political system that always puts corporations over people.

@wwltv.bsky.social Why did you air a clip of Trump saying we are the only country that recognizes birthright citizenship — when there are actually 30+ countries that do — and not clarify that his statement was completely false? This is your idea of responsible journalism? Sad & shameful!

Just a reminder that all of today’s vile decisions are courtesy of the entire Republican Party establishment over the last 37 years. Trump (and the modern GOP) gave us only half of the six judges responsible.

📌NOTE: The United States isn't a grotesque, fascist shit show because of Donald Trump. It is a grotesque, fascist shit show because of the absolutely deplorable people who support him.

Just putting this out there... I went to a Div 3 school - Depauw University, Greencastle, IN (for non-US folks, bottom rung of college sports divisions). Me and some chums from the dorm were playing basketball in the gym. A friend of my dorm-mate came walking through, in a shirt/tie/dress shoes.

He commenced to hit 3 half court shots in a row, one from the right side, one from the center, and one from the left. This guy didn't even play for the team. He was very smart and probably understood that at his size he had no future in basketball, so didn't care.

Darryl in Arizona reposted

I don't know. seems like if the billionaires who own the teams have gotten huge tax breaks to build the stadiums in which the teams play and make lots of money off of the teams, that the local fans should be able to watch the team on TV. Not on a streaming service they have to pay for, but just TV.

NEW: Chief Justice John Roberts bemoans that Americans don't understand how the Supreme Court operates and see justices as "political actors". The court at times simply has to make "unpopular" decisions, he adds: www.nbcnews.com/politics/sup...

Has the Supreme Court ever previously struck down all or part of a duly-passed, constitutional law on the grounds that Justices feel like the law achieved its goals and feel like the goal would stay achieved without the law so therefore it shouldn’t be in force anymore? Because that’s legislative.

This is coming from a place of warmth and acceptance… -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It’s ‘one fell swoop’ -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’

Let's see just how critical the ballroom is. Democrats should agree to absolutely everything that Lindsey and the GOP congress want for funding the ballroom on the condition that the ballroom is named "The Barrack Hussein Obama Ballroom in Commemoration of His Nobel Peace Prize Victory".

If you set aside the horrific atrocities of ICE for one whole second, the underlying goal is to line the pockets of private prisons and their service providers. They get paid based on how full their facilities are. It's about quotas and profits.

If the estimates were right, there were about 9 million people at No Kings rallies today. That would mean this protest was THIRTY TIMES AS LARGE AS THE TEA PARTY PROTEST which we were told, over and over again, was a massively important sign that US politics had shifted dramatically to the right

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

Again, the first Tea Party rallies in April 2009 -- heavily promoted in advance by Fox News -- only had about 300,000 attendees across 750 cities, but the media treated it like the Second American Revolution. There will be multiple *individual* No Kings rallies today that have more people at them.
