30K is absolutely life-changing. A bunch of years ago, we had our taxes re-assessed with Liam's autism diagnosis applied. The resulting 10K in back taxes had such a profound impact:. It gave us a buffer that lasted until our basement flooded in 2021.

So... if other publishers decide to go running off a cliff, you'd join them? Just because other people are making terrible decisions doesn't mean you need to follow along. Baa

Our position on generative AI remains unchanged. But an increasing number of organisations within the publishing industry are using the technology. In her blog post our CEO sets out why we want to see the adoption of cross-industry standards. buff.ly/DCPZPY2

Now, see, if you truly understood the 'depth of feelings', you wouldn't be pushing AI so hard. This is so utterly tone-deaf that it sidesteps into absurd.

We understand the strength of feeling this AI Charter has provoked & that more explanation is needed. We will publish a blog tomorrow detailing why, in a vacuum of regulation, this charter demands more transparency & accountability from organisations on how they are using AI now and in the future.

Nothing quite says 'this was made by Canadians or with Canadians on the team' than hearing Home for a Rest by Spirit of the West in the background.

A book reviewer once told me that Ashrinn (the woman in blue) looks like she's about to play golf. While I absolutely abhor golf, my mother-in-law played a lot of golf. She passed away several years ago, before the pandemic.

Every time I look at this cover and the poster I have of it on my wall, I'm reminded of that comment. It reminds me of Sandra. It feels fitting to share this today, on what would have been her 84th birthday.

Today, I took my son to the bank so he could take care of some things. He actually spoke to the bank teller. That might not seem like such a big deal, but he's autistic and doesn't like to talk to people. I'm so proud of him!

A band of indie authors are doing a cool speculative-fiction anthology that just went live on Kickstarter. There will be 34 stories in this book, and you have lots of options of how you want them - ebook, fancy hardcover, or a new story every day for all of December, holiday calendar style. (1/2)

I am absolutely delighted to be part of this anthology. We've got a mix of established names and publishing newbies across a wide range of genres. My story, 'A Ring of Bone', is set in the same world as 'Path of the Warrior', just a different time period. Back our project! buff.ly/v4rQ4gl

#cartaugust The last few posts I had for last week didn't schedule properly. So I'm playing catch up. Again. Huge shoutout to @imironwolf for his glorious map skills.
