I just feel like we as a society aren’t talking enough about how much Onimusha fucking rules

Son, back in my day if you started a PC game without connecting your controller first your computer would stop working for six hours

The fight to protect games is an incredibly complex one. You fight Sony's gaslighting. You fight lying lobbyists. You fight misconceptions about physical media. You fight hordes of trolls spreading lies online. You fight ignorance. It's exhausting, but WE WILL CONTINUE!

Sony blindsided its own partners with their "kill discs" strategy. We heard from multiple insiders that 3rd party had no clue it was coming. Now a report suggests 1st party/AAA was steamrolled too. Sony screws the industry, and doesn't even give its own folks time to brace.

Sony: we're discontinuing physical game discs gamers:

To make up for the PS6 not supporting physical discs, we are partnering with Naughty Dog to release "The Last of Us: Anniversary Edition" on the Nintendo Switch 2, so you don't have to miss out on the biannual Last of Us re-release! Game only available on Game Key Card.

Sony at the PS6 launch: "Fortunately, we have a product for people who still want to play games on disc. It's called PS5."

RT if you want to keep buying Physical games

this feels so long ago

Jack Trenton on stage at Sony's E3 2013 press conference says PS4 discs will let players keep their games forever to roaring applause in the room.

My cats at 1:30am after they take a huge shit

bring back when games were voice acted by the developers! i don’t want good voice acting anymore. give me the stuff someone had to power through reading, and it’s obvious whoever is being recorded is doing it as a last resort.

Video games wield such a weird position culturally, because they can have the capacity to be just a fidget toy for the most childish people on the planet, and also have the capacity to be the most peak form of art to ever exist, if done well.

The Requiem. A powerful assault revolver, carrying symbolic meaning. Use your best judgement as resources are scarce. Additionally, a vast array of upgradeable weapons are at your disposal to tackle nearby threats. #ResidentEvilRequiem

I self-published Without a Dawn in May. I made zero compromises, and I couldn't be happier how it turned out: store.steampowered.com/app/3145620/... 💛💚 Unfortunately, I've had very little luck with exposure, including the gaming press. 😩 #visualnovel #gamedev #steam

It’s been such a joy to express and share my excitement for each new Resident Evil title. Every opportunity to add to our ever growing collections with quality titles like this, makes real life easier to deal with. #residentevil #videogames #residentevilrequiem

Horror fans! There's a game called Without a Dawn, which I released last May, that I 100% believe deserves more attention. It's a small, unique, thought-provoking experience made with love and hard work: store.steampowered.com/app/3145620/... Thanks for checking it out! 💚 #horror #indiegame #gamedev

I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.
