UAE officials have warned the UK that a severe punishment for Man City could hurt future Emirati investment in Britain, Bloomberg reports. This is the perfect argument for keeping foreign money out of football.

Watching BBC News and it's striking to hear the presenters repeatedly referring to the AfD as "far-right" whilst refusing to ever say the same about the hundreds of actual masked blackshirts currently swarming British ports

All error messages should be copyable. I'm so bored of having to transcribe some arcane error code just because some gobshite developer couldn't be arsed to find the setting to make their error messages appear as copyable text.

A fascist party founded just months ago polled 8.7%, ahead of the Conservatives, in the Manchester mayoral election. What’s happening on the right of British politics is terrifying.

With his smooth skull, excessive eyebrows and bottomless capacity for evil, Gianni Infantino has a supervillain quality. "You're too late, Batman, I'm privatising the World Cup and there's nothing you can do about it!"

I am happy to see that the MAGA World Cup taught foreign sports journalists that the U.S. is a country that: - is big and complex - with pro- and anti-Trump people - and large immigrant communities - who live together fairly harmoniously - in a context of authoritarianism and racism

Belgium PM De Wever: We are going to provide two packages of €70 billion in military support to Ukraine. So it's a very strong red card for Putin. And as you know, you can't simply take a red card back.

I think the only good outcome would be to ban the USA from playing football. Not just FIFA competitions. There should be a worldwide law that says they can't even kick a ball in their back garden. They shouldn't have been given the world cup & this orange paedo rapist is shitting all over it.

It's unfair to say that tobacco companies, fossil fuel investment vehicles, crypto billionaires and Russian oligarchs can't be altruistic. Look at the millions they give to Nigel Farage, out of pure kindness, expecting nothing in return.

On an 80s school exchange I was asked repeatedly by a pretty French girl what I thought about ‘Napoleon’. I tried to be as positive about his contribution to history, political culture and military strategy as an Englishman could, to no avail. Eventually worked out she was saying ‘Paul Young’.

Chelsea and Man City in the FA Cup final. No other English clubs have systematically ignored, bent or broken the rules like both have done. In terms of trophies won, no other English clubs have been as successful over the past decade and a half either. The moral of the story - is that there is none.

Imagine if you payed someone to build you a house and they just put up the basic structure and said they'd come back every 6 months to add a window or paint a wall. This is how software companies operate now and somehow keep getting away with it

It's impossible for a decent person to become a billionaire. Anyone who isn't a total sociopath would just stop and do something worthwhile instead a long time before they accumulated that kind of wealth.

Today's footballers are dull beyond belief. Bring back proper footballers, who spent their every waking moment drop-kicking fans, writing bad poetry, getting blind drunk, having affairs, cheating in World Cup matches, and generally being interesting and living life to the fullest

I grew up as the internet was blossoming. The main two rules were simple; don't give out personal info and don't feed the trolls. What the fuck happened? Everyone, including my peers, seemed to have forgotten these two edicts. They've gotten complacent and it's dangerous.

Say what you like about the Daily Mail, it reflects the values of its founder: the main funder of interwar British fascism, the 1st Viscount Rothermere.

The Roman Empire prospered due to open borders, mass immigration and diversity then fell because of huge wealth inequality and corrupt leadership. I just thought I'd mention it.

Have been thinking about “immigration has been tearing this country apart.” Surely I’m not the only person to think that it isn’t true, but inflamed rhetoric about immigration by politicians is what is tearing this country apart and so statements like that only makes it worse.

Everyone has harebrained schemes and silly projects that are a waste of time. Spouses, friends and family chuckle, roll their eyes, and we all move on. The problem with billionaires is that their vast resources mean they inflict these random stupid ideas on the entire world.

Oasis are the Nigel Farages of the pop world: harking back to slightly iffy things from generations past and the media love them as they'll always pop up with an off colour quote.

There are 37 donors funding the $300 million build of the new White House ballroom. Unsurprisingly, Amazon is on that list. But you know who isn’t? Independent bookstores. And this is why it will *always* be bookstores over billionaires. ✊
