This used to be the place to send young kids for affirmative endocrinology and counseling to determine their options and choose what was right for them. Now it is running a one size fits all shut the fuck up and don't ask questions and be who you're told to be clinic. It's honestly a lot to take in.
its insane how not many people are talking about how republicans with the help of several moderate democrats are building out the largest abusive medical conversion therapy operation in modern american history

this isn't the nuttiest thing to have happened at the UN General Assembly but it was notable. Also notable, I thought: Waltz claiming & condemning the Castro government put gay people, Afro-Cubans, & others in concentration camps. Shows us Waltz knows actions his own admin takes are beyond the pale

I think this gives state and local parties a chance to begin demanding campaigns support a good fundraising neighbor system for endorsements. Maybe at the state or county level, putting together a single, unified campaign for donations that has maximum message rates in place of everyone shouting.

A years-long push to give nonprofit and community partnerships a chance to buy distressed buildings broke through in the City Council Thursday. Supporters expect the mayor to sign the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act (COPA) into law, @patrickspauster.com reports. citylimits.org/council-pass...

Important piece: Republicans already strip-mined their donor base, and now are deeply dependent on billionaires. Unless Dems change, they will go the same route, or become electorally uncompetitive.

When I heard those Toronto protestors chanting, "Get Home Safe!" to the construction crews who were leaving after they put their bodies in the way to stop further removal of the Bloor Street bike lane, that hit me hard. It's so real. Why is it this hard to make our streets a little safer?

As this insane and totally on brand story spreads, a note that Turning Point USA and UK have a branding agreement. No overnight from America. I don’t know what in contract could kill that but this might. As I have written TPUK is street fighting organization matthewboedy.substack.com/p/turning-po...
The head of TPUK, the British offshoot of TPUSA, was caught on undercover video talking about hiring a hitman to carry out violence against opponents. That hitman met with undercover reporters to show them guns and talk about ways of hurting people. Insane story. www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/10...

Older people who want to pay lower property taxes should be able to downsize into an age-appropriate home that requires less upkeep without having to leave the communities where they raised their families; but they oppose that because they feel entitled to a fixed, unchanging neighborhood character.
If you're 79, living in a mansion, presumably kids have left, and think your taxes are too high, you should probably downsize. I just don't look at an octogenarian standing in front of a 5 bedroom and think "poor him"

BREAKING: They’ve called it, PETE FRY of the Green Party is the NEW MAYOR OF THE CITY OF VANCOUVER, with what will be a progressive party coalition majority on City Council. A near-decimation of Ken Sim & ABC, and a significant turning point at a challenging time! Congratulations to the new Council!
We’re in a critical moment in Vancouver city-building and governance, and this Vancouver municipal election feels particularly important. I support progressive voices, including @ptfry.bsky.social for mayor, & @lucymaloney.bsky.social @fabulavancouver.bsky.social @ionabonamis.bsky.social & OneCity.
Congratulations to Mitch McConnell. You truly did everything you could during the teens to avoid your personal friend having to take any blame for failing to stop the military from doing genocide, and now your party is regularizing relations with the same, who now destroyed her government.

It remains an utter obscenity that adults have a right to discriminate against foster children on the basis of sexuality. In the case of fostering, a child's rights should be far more ironclad than those of the voluntary foster parents. www.kuow.org/law/2026-10-...
Expropriation of essential global utilities is not only good, but a necessity.
SpaceX’s Starlink speed cap is confirmed at 60-70 km/h on Ukrainian terminals which kills connectivity for all medium-range kamikaze drones: FP-2, Darts, Hornet, RAM-2 and others. It also impacts Ukraine’s drone interceptors that rely on Starlink to shoot down Russian Shahed-type jets.
