NYS Senator Rachel May is in my opinion the most under-recognized effective progressive elected currently in NYS government. Study how things have been moving politically in Syracuse and Central New York these last several years, and you more likely than not will see her disproportionate influence.

We urge you to vote YES on NYC Ballot Proposal 3, which will streamline the review of street safety projects to expedite implementation, speed up the disposition of unused city property, and make it easier for the city to acquire office space for city employees. www.streetspac.org/2026_nys_gen...

Hi @shaunabreu.bsky.social - we are looking to you for leadership.
It's crazy how often you hear about "bikes on the sidewalk" when this is the actual reality in NYC

no one told Nick that do is short for "definitely order" huh
"I'm going to do an espresso." "I'm gonna do a rare steak." No. Stop ordering like this. It is an abomination. No mere ontological misunderstanding, it is a corrosive lie. You are not "doing" anything. Thank you for your attention to this matter! hellgatenyc.com/stop-orderin...

It’s easy to do the right thing when it doesn’t cost you anything. It’s harder to do the right thing in cases like this, where it will cost Sally Rooney quite a lot. A really uncommon display of principle. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

It took massive interventions into the market for this to be the case, part of Trump's scheme to turn American consumers into customers of last resort for otherwise stranded Saudi oil reserves
And yet gas-only cars constituted 77% of the new vehicle market in the US over that period. Has the US ever been this far behind the world average in new tech adoption for a major product type?

was talking to friends about this video/topic last week and every last one of them was dumbfounded that there's an easy way to reduce these fatalities by 40 percent, but the city instead is giving out exemptions right and left
There's a simple piece of technology that can prevent cyclists and pedestrians from being run over and killed by truck drivers. But few trucks operating on New York City's streets are required to have it — and many of those trucks get an exemption from the city itself. youtube.com/shorts/EWQWy...
hi @nyc311.bsky.social. can you handle this?
Nice #bikenyc lane you got there, @nyc-dot.bsky.social. Be a shame if some luxury building (69 5th Ave) used it to store trash!?!

I hope @mayor.nyc.gov is listening to @ridersalliance.org @transalt.org and all these other community organizations. street safety and transportation justice are major components of affordability. the streets master plan must be a blueprint to liberate new yorkers from the burden of the automobile.
I think we start referring to these tickets as semi-automated camera enforcement. they are only as effective as honest drivers allow them to be. as soon as the scofflaws adapt and obscure their license plates we are right back to requiring police enforcement to regulate the street.
The city and state are gearing up to use the MTA's existing bus-mounted cameras to ticket drivers who park in bike lanes.

A driver caused a massacre in the Bronx today. Ran through a crosswalk and a red light and struck a bunch of people and five cars. What will the city council’s 17 e-bike bills do to address this?

great piece from @lindsayleewallace.bsky.social. bikes are freedom and people are taking note that the one way trips enabled by bikeshare are even more so.

I disagree, the best cure for ideological bias is asking people to walk through the mechanics of their argument. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23620547/
The best cure for ideological bias is find someone on the other side and go to lunch with them. Sometimes we disagree about facts. Sometimes we disagree about values. Figuring out which is which is fun part. https://newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/my-libertarian-friends-were-right
