Deadline is midnight tonight! I submitted my comment earlier today. #MECFS #LongCOVID #ChronicIllness #Disability
In case you hadn't seen it, yet: #CDC has created a new survey that removed #LongCOVID and #MECFS, both of which have previously been measured. There are other disability- and chronic-illness-related questions missing, too. You can leave a comment here: 🧵 www.regulations.gov/commenton/CD...

An interesting thing happened. My niece, a doctor, thinks I have MCAS and recommended I try daily fexofenadine. Been on it three weeks now and the extremely painful cramps I was having with every BM have stopped. My doctors have offered me nothing new for ME/CFS for years, but this works. Hallelujah

If you haven't listened to the exceptional @apmreports.org podcast IN THE DARK, which played a significant part in vindicating Curtis Flowers—thanks to an incredible woman-led reporting team—I can't recommend it enough
Fuck this. I don’t know what else to say. Prison kills. mississippitoday.org/2026/10/07/c...
Go double check your registration! I just did.
If you're in these states, *TODAY* is deadline to register to vote. Arizona, Arkansas Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas. Even if you think you've registered: doesn't hurt to check! And there's a lot happening across them. A thread with stakes on each. ⬇️

All prisoners should have the right to vote while in prison
Arguably the biggest democracy referendum next month: Virginia is one of only three states where the state constitution says people should lose their right to vote FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIFE if they are convicted of any felony. This measure would allow anyone to vote after prison.

I've been covering the death penalty in depth for a dozen years now, and few nights have been as disturbing and dispiriting as tonight. This was a moral, ethical, and legal failure on several different fronts from many different actors. It wasn't *just* SCOTUS, though they sure were a key part.

Hi folks. If you saw this, you know the administration plans to only accept white South Africans next year. Tomorrow is Congress's formal say before the determination is signed. Please check this brief thread on why I'd like you to speak out for the Afghan people still in limbo...
Trump administration tells Congress it will admit 17,500 white South African refugees

He is not wrong. "There are reasonable grounds to believe that the reported 68 attacks that killed 223 people constituted crimes against humanity of murder under customary international law" - United Nations Special Rapporteur on U.S. Killing “Narco-Terrorists” at Sea www.ohchr.org/sites/defaul...

Important: the USPS rule that SCOTUS blocked tonight was Trump’s big plan to control and restrict mail voting. But a separate policy remains in place: USPS is no longer postmarking mail as soon it gets it, which is hugely important for deadlines. So people must mail back with plenty of time.

“HRL has assessed based on ground reports from human sources, UN figures, media reports by Sudanese journalists, and the analysis of over 150 piles consistent with clusters of human corpses that at least as many as 60,000 people may have been murdered between October and November in El Fasher.”

NEW: Our analysis found that from 2020 to 2025, the rate of deaths involving ectopic pregnancies nearly doubled compared with the previous six-year period. The uptick was steeper in states with abortion bans.
@solomonrmissouri.com I just learned the word zaftig. Do you know this word? Seems like a useful word for you.

From what I can find*, the NUMBER of food recalls is more or less in line with historical trends. But CASES are way up! so as you said, I think it's a matter of our capacity to get ahead of/stop outbreaks having degraded significantly * pirg.org/edfund/artic... among others

@owillis.bsky.social Please do another edition! I have your book The Deepest State and it is still satisfying. Maybe a sequel? The Wokest State? Even a thread is cathartic.
President Ocasio-Cortez walked down the hallway, congratulations echoing off of the Capitol walls. "Madam President, your speech went so well. The Mall is at capacity and--" The president held up her palm to stop the aide from finishing. "I dont have time for this shit. Do the SEALS have Musk?"

this is correct: the USPS rule is about mailing *to* voters (not *from*) we have an explainer on this! boltsmag.org/mail-voting-...
Just to be 100% clear here I just read the source materials and the whistle blower is describing the process for handling ballots that the state is mailing TO voters.

“Lost media” no longer! I finally got permission to upload “AL’S BRAIN,” an 11-minute educational 3-D film attraction which ran at the Orange County and Western Washington fairs, and hasn’t been seen publicly since 2009. You can watch the whole thing here: youtu.be/2xujU87ZHt4
