In addition to better pay, how do we get other teams to actually respect the expertise of ID physicians more? Currently undergoing some issues with certain ICU teams insisting on meropenem use despite ID consult saying not to use 😡

Banned Books Week is almost over! The Trump administration had at least 596 books removed from schools serving military families. Don’t forget to get out there and read some of the books they tried to keep off the shelves. Happy Banned Books Week!

Time to boycott @mlb.com (easy for me since I don’t watch baseball). Our national parks are not for sale!

AI companies destroying books is despicable, and I wish was a criminal act.

Measles cases in the US just hit a 35-year high This is an illness that can be eliminated. Eliminated. And the response from RFK Jr & the 2 physicians with him yesterday (Drs Bhattacharya & Overton) was to issue guidance that will LOWER MMR vaccination rates It's what anti-vaxx activists would do

Prof Gavin Yamey MD MPH@gavinyamey.bsky.social

A great day for the disgraced doctor Wakefield, who was struck off the medical register for serious misconduct—he pushed for spacing RFK Jr says statues should be built in Wakefield’s honor; he welcomed him here in the US, bringing him into MAHA A terrible day for kids apnews.com/article/vacc...

In response to today’s White House Executive Order (EO) on vaccines, parents should continue to rely on evidence-based immunization recommendations developed by experts. Today's EO does not change the scientific evidence supporting childhood immunization. That data has been built over decades.

Ah yes, when it comes to making a decision about whether or not to approve an experimental unproven drug, it is CRUCIAL to ensure that “sellers” of the product—the ones with the most extreme financial conflicts of interests—get to decide! MAHA is just grift & blatant corruption

NGL the last few days were rough for folks working in public health—RFK Jr’s horrific lies, his extraordinarily vile eugenics, his blaming infectious diseases on immigrants, his refusal to take any responsibility for the measles crisis or its control & the appointment of a tobacco executive at CDC 🫣

This administration is full of such despicable people. #VaccinesWork

I feel a lot of moral injury with paying my taxes this year. I feel privileged to pay taxes. I want accessible healthcare, good schools, and good roads. I am not happy with my money going to the orange turd and his cronies. I feel as if I am paying to destroy everything.

missing sepsis - bad misdiagnosing another catastrophe as “sepsis” - also bad it almost makes me think that maybe we should specially train people how to identify and differentiate these disease processes and provide personalized care 🤔

@jakescottmd.bsky.social connects the dots perfectly in this must-read @cidrap.bsky.social op-ed. It's hard to focus on any single issue with this ongoing barrage of insanity and illegality, but what's happening at HHS/CDC needs to stay on everyone's short list of important issues.

Really disappointed in the ATS’ stubbornness and doubling down on a bad rec that they keep trying to justify with weak reasoning.

ATS basically admitting that stewardship is not a top priority for them in guidelines. They also consider "case series and clinical experience" as "evidence" to make guideline decisions. Very disappointing messaging and methodology. #TeamIDSA academic.oup.com/cid/advance-...
