Inside an ICE facility, women talked about the men whose 911 calls landed them there — the boyfriends or husbands who had beat them, choked them, threatened deportation. “I had suffered from domestic violence,” one woman said. “But the one who ended up in trouble was me.”

propublica.orgThese Women Were Trying to Escape Domestic Abuse. ICE Detained Them Instead. It’s especially intimidating for immigrants suffering abuse to call 911. With this in mind, Congress has long treated people who need help as victims, not targets for deportation. Under the Trump admi...

How about y’all stay the fuck out. We’ll make sure to make your lives hell again if you bring your gravy gestapo back here.

Markwayne Mullin on the Twin Cities: "They're gonna have to ask President Trump for help, and if they do, we can come up and we can clean that city up in no time, but they're gonna have to admit they were wrong first"

This is the exact same behavior that ISIS engages in. Pete Hegseth has more in common with terrorist regimes than he does with the western world as he loves to claim.

History is repeating itself. Under Trump, the US has fallen from a Republic to an imperium in which the masses are kept entertained. Like the circuses of Ancient Rome, Trump provided carnival entertanment with his rallies. Now they are progressing to public executions as entertainment.

Trump: "We spent more than $2 billion in FEMA funding. You're waiting for some additional funding. I'm gonna get that to you. Now if Michael loses, I'm not sending it." Crowd: *groans*

If Jim Jones were alive today, he’d be taking notes from Trump

Wow -- RNC video: "On June 14th, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, 'I need a caretaker,' so God gave us Trump." It only gets more unhinged and culty from there.

This is something working class Americans have been clamoring for for years now! We've all been there, buying a stock for 100k and having to pay a ton of taxes on it a few years later. It's how the working class stays afloat!

George W. Bush was absolutely pilloried because there was the perception that the Iraq war was actually about oil. Trump brazenly and openly brags about the fact that we've enacted regime change for the soil purpose of stealing the nation's oil and his base just shrugs 🫠

Data centers are one of the few issues where both sides are in agreement. This couldn't be a more disconnected take, but his base will never ever hold him accountable for pushing policies they absolutely hate.

The next administration, if there is one, must hold these murderers accountable. We need justice from top to bottom. Prosecute the leadership behind this and everyone involved. Throw the fucking book at them.

"What did he do to deserve to be murdered, to be left cold, on the ground, dead, my child? What did he do? ... they don't care ... I expect an apology. Why shouldn't we get one?" -- Alex Pretti's mom

"I was not shocked that he helped somebody. My shock is that he was murdered. And no one has given us the complete truth or anyone has been held accountable. And it's been 7 months! ... there was more effort in vilifying him than pursuing justice" -- Alex Pretti's parents

Trump is an abuser through and through. If you support him, you support wife beaters and child abusers. What a deeply sick and evil sack of shit he is.

Q: Any comment on Rep. Max Miller? TRUMP: I hope he's able to work it out. I feel badly for him.

It’s remarkable that Trump can say this as bluntly and candidly as possible, but if any other candidate made a statement that could be interpreted as being in the same spirit as what Trump said, that would be the last thing you would hear from that candidate.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on saying he doesn't think about Americans' financial situation: "It's a perfect statement. I'll make it again. Everybody agrees."

The blatant, lazy racism being routinely espoused by the president leaves a stain on all of us. What is so utterly deranging about all of this is the shocking proportion of Americans that see no issue with this disgusting behavior. How can anyone be proud to be an American today?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Why is the president sharing these videos on social media? (1/2)

We need to pay close attention to Hungary here in the US. Hoping we get politicians with some fucking backbone after Trump is gone.

Adam Schwarz@adamjschwarz.bsky.social

Incoming Hungarian PM Péter Magyar went on Orbán's state TV today for the first time in 18 months: "This factory of lies will end once the Tisza govt is formed... What has been going on here since 2010, which even Goebbels or the North Korean dictator would have been envious of, cannot continue."

So happy for Hungary! Authoritarianism shrinks in Europe today. If only we could get it right here in the US. We have an over-the-top cartoon villain as president and we made the wrong choice 😡

Ursula von der Leyen@vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu

Hungary has chosen Europe. Europe has always chosen Hungary. A country reclaims its European path. The Union grows stronger.

I made a new open-source app called Hipparchus. It creates clean vector maps from OpenStreetMap data and exports them as layered SVG files. That means roads, buildings, water, parks, labels, railways, coastlines, and other elements stay separate and editable.

My gas and groceries are up 40%, my health insurance is up 50%, and the president is covering up an elite pedophilia ring. But at least there won't be trans athletes competing in a 2028 Olympic sport that I won't be watching.

We need a vehicle weight tax. If you can justify buying an $80k, 3,000 kg Wagoneer to haul one bag of groceries, taxpayers shouldn't be subsidizing your pavement wear and tear plus the added danger to our streets. If you can afford the payments, you can afford to stop asking society to subsidize it.

This is what showing up looks like. Pennsylvania just moved one step closer to locking in marriage equality — and at this moment, that matters. While rights are being rolled back across the country, we’re still pushing forward. Still fighting. Still protecting our people. More of this.

This captures the abject moral depravity of our times fairly well

There is an element of truth in the cartoon that makes the situation truly pathetic. Our sons and daughters are the cannon fodder for the sons and daughters of the oligarchs!
