JUST POSTED: A Russian energy giant has secretly moved to acquire a position in a massive Alaska gas project. Its part of talks between Witkoff/Kushner & Putin. But CEO of US company resigns after learning of Russian money in the project. A wowzer of a story. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/u...

Hmm. I was reliably informed by economists of the highest pedigree that we, as the small country, had zero hope of having any tariffs reversed and should just sit down to 'make a deal'. Another "L" for Team Captitulation.

Obviously this isn’t the most important thing, but how can people vote for someone who puts so much makeup on his face. Like if that isn’t a perfect metaphor for the whole Trump experience.

If you voted by mail-in ballot in Alberta's referendum it's important you: 1. CHECK that your vote was received (👇). 2. VOTE on Election Day (October 19) if it wasn't.

Corey Hogan 🇨🇦@coreyhogan.ca

Did you vote in the Alberta referendum by special ballot? Make sure that you confirm your vote was actually received by using the link Elections Alberta sent you from info@elections.ab.ca when you submitted your request. And, if it isn't received in time? Go vote in person! 🇨🇦

FAFO, as they say.

How we got here --> where we're going Alberta Premier Danielle Smith cleared legislative hurdles for the separatists and amplified their message. Now, these activists - the ones who brought her to power - want to bring her down. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber...

Danielle smith looks cool AF standing next to this dweeb. (This isn’t an endorsement for DS)

My first stop was Alberta, the only province not boycotting Californian wines. I spoke to provincial leaders about the importance of the Canadian market to California farmers and the importance of continuing close collaboration on dairy, beef and energy trade.

As you vote, consider: 1. 55% of doctors say they’d leave Alberta if we voted to separate [AMA]. 2. 50% of Calgary businesses say they’d leave or reduce activity if we proceeded with separation process [Calgary Chamber]. 3. Bank of Montreal’s operating headquarters is Toronto.

Worth nothing this speech is taking place in Alberta. Right or wrong the majority of the population is livid. US Midwest refiners currently get Alberta crude at a huge discount because of pipeline constraints. Pacific Link should be painted Orange and Gold as it would have never happened.

MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com

The crowd absolutely erupts when Carney says the Pacific Link pipeline will reduce Canada's dependence on the U.S. Mark Carney: "Careful. They might think that's election interference. They're a little touchy down there. We're not. We're getting on with it."

Hell yeah

TOYOTA WILL BEGIN PRODUCING THE HYBRID-ONLY LEXUS NX IN ONTARIO IN DECEMBER, REINFORCING ITS CANADIAN INVESTMENT AS US TARIFF THREATS PRESSURE THE AUTO INDUSTRY. TOYOTA PRODUCED 537,518 VEHICLES IN CANADA LAST YEAR.

These are not serious people. Get out and vote for Canada; put this nonsense to rest once and for all.

There's no diesel. The whole thing is just to try and and whack down the futures curve a bit. Even if there somehow was "300,000 tons" of diesel, that's about 90 minutes worth of global demand. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

This is the best analysis out there about Putin's "diesel deal" with Trump, which really isn't about selling diesel at all. It's about an insurance policy for the Kremlin, and Trump realigning himself against NATO and for Moscow. From Phillips P O'Brien.

The funny thing about housing conversations is it really shows that YIMBYS are just cosplaying. Everyone becomes a NIMBY to some extent and if you don’t believe that you’re lying to yourself.

The entire interior U.S. should be alarmed as Canada fast tracks a new crude oil pipeline from Alberta to Canada's West Coast that will push more of Canada's oil away from U.S. refineries that rely on it, and could negatively impact U.S. refineries.

Instead of tariff-exempt potash from Saskatchewan (the world's biggest supplier, and which has rail-links directly to the US), Trump thinks why don't we just substitute a landlocked Russian-client-state located 4,500 miles from any US farmer

🇨🇦 BrownHall reposted

Just to be clear, the Trump admin is placing tariffs on Canada in the name of “national security” but is willing to rely on *Belarus* to grow enough food for its people. Americans, are you cool with this??

There's really no complicated explanation for this, or any kind of grand theory. It's just Econ 101 and he flat out does not understand it because he's an idiot.

Trump: "If we lose $50 billion a year with a country, and we say 'we're not going to trade with you anymore,' we don't lose $50 billion a year. It's very simple. Right?"
