Screenshot of my GitHub profile and what I've been working on these days. Progress is slow, sometimes frustratingly so. But it's still progress. Need to get more stuff into a 1.0 version and promote that then. #webdev #buildinpublic

Can recommend this setup: Currently using GPT 5.6 Sol (Medium or high thinking) for planning and implementation. Then GLM 5.3 for reviewing. Using Zed (the IDE) for managing multiple sessions, the Codex harness for GPT and the Zed Agent panel for GLM. Using VSCode for manual changes. #webdev

AI coding tools are incredibly helpful. I wrote about what works well for me: one chat per feature / request, a small AGENTS.md, specific file references, plan mode then implement mode, and reviewing the generated code. https://bryanhogan.com/blog/ai-code-well

I was working on a web app of mine and spent so much time debugging something that seems to be a very common Firefox issue instead? Making the keyboard appear and disappear on mobile (Android) shifts and skews the elements briefly. (I don't mean the slight shift, I mean severe jumping of elements)

A microscopic annoyance that forever irks me is the discrepancies between the 'Get it on Google Play' and 'Download on the App Store' badges. I hate how they're so similar, yet fail to have any cohesion. They always look awful when placed together, and I cop psychic damage each time I see them.

Nowadays I find AI also highly capable of writing Svelte code. Claude was good at it for a long time, Codex with the Svelte MCP works well also. Have been using it to build apps: bryanhogan.com/blog/web-to-... Want to try the OpenCode Go subscription and test out the cheaper Chinese models next.

your token costs: lower your server costs: lower your bandwidth costs: lower not to mention the fact that you'll ship in half the time and tear out less hair in the process. just use @svelte.dev, people. it's like other frameworks but better

If you don't have time to read it, the tl;dr is, if there are educational content creators you value, let them know. They might write, make videos, or anything else. Times are tough, and talented people are fading away. A few encouraging words from a real person can make a huge difference.

I wanted to a simple timer for time-boxing that just work. No account, 100% free, no ads, no distraction, just a sequential timer. I originally built it more than a year ago, but have updated it with some improvements now. โžก๏ธ timer.bryanhogan.com #buildinpublic #webdev #indiedev

Group the elements with a colored background, or no card background? #buildinpublic #webdev #dev #appdev #indiedev #uidesign

I think for consistency I will have to go with a vertical form layout, title first, form element in the next row. Putting small elements (e.g. checkboxes) next to the title feels inconsistent. But if I do stack all I'm using up a lot of vertical space.. Any ideas? #buildinpublic #webdev #dev

I've been thinking about it: - Make the bottom drawer into a a full height and width modal. - Make the buttons smaller and put them into the same row + Give option to swipe for navigation as well. Vertical space gained -> use the two row approach for all. Groups probably won't have 7+ trackers.

Update from yesterday, building the UI for entering information! I was happy with the home screen from yesterday, but this one needs much more work. #webdev #appdev #indiedev #buildinpublic

Current design of the home screen for my DailySelfTrack app. What do you think? #webdev #appdev #indiedev #buildinpublic

Obsidian is such a valuable tool. Using it for writing my blog posts, organizing my thoughts and research, as well as managing my projects. The files for all of these things live in one folder, building structure through links and .base files. #ObsidianMD #Obsidian #PKM

It's also a PWA, so I recommend adding it to your phone's homescreen. I find it incredible how fast you can test ideas nowadays! Feedback is very welcome :)
