Maaaan, this feels dangerous. Giving Carney any excuse to further erase Indigenous rights worries me.

We (Open Democracy Manitoba) built a #Winnipeg Election microsite where you can find your candidates and read CBC/Freep ward and candidate profiles. Search your address: www.winnipegelection.ca Let me know if you run into any issues. 🗳️
“Five days after his defeat in the first round of the Brazilian presidential election, leftwing president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spent almost 24 hours unable to boost his Instagram posts, while his opponent, far-right senator Flávio Bolsonaro, could.”

'Cult of property' indeed
🇺🇸 & 🇨🇦 asking why they can’t be like 🇫🇷 : because racism and capitalism hold you back. There is a cult of property that means that any damage to it is the moral equivalent of mass murder. And you’ve had protests for equality from racialized ppl: Blk ppl in 🇺🇸 Indigenous ppl in 🇨🇦 . You demonized them

NEW: We got consent from 7 unhoused people sheltering along Pandora Ave to hide Apple AirTags in their possessions. This is after years of City of Victoria denying allegations from unhoused ppl & witnesses who said bylaw don't follow their own policies. Now we have proof. Part 1 of 2 stories ⬇️
INVESTIGATION: Victoria denies that its bylaw officers put unhoused people’s new, perfectly good tents in the trash. So we tracked them with AirTags. www.defactomedia.ca/bylaw-office...

I love this thread. A thing that always comes up when I work with students is the importance of understanding and defining the terms of your research question. What do we want to grow? Who should efficiency serve? Whose time matters? How do we shore up trust? Who gets included in "we?"
But they will deliver less, too. The only thing public sector chatbots truly deliver is cynicism about the ability of the state to achieve *anything*: pluralistic.net/2026/02/06/d...

Is it us, or do Indigenous peoples’ interests get oddly omitted in this commentary? God forbid they get in the way of inter-provincial healing.
