It is a dark stain on American voters and the Republican Party that despite a range of criminal convictions, plus successful civil actions for rape - let alone the Jan 6th insurrection he encourages that the Republican Party allows him to stand for a second term & American voters elected him.

HOLY SHIT. In a sworn statement yesterday, an ICE agent told a federal judge that an ICE flight to Equatorial Guinea had been cancelled and so couldn't be used to bring Ahmed Soliman back to the United States. The plane just landed in Equatorial Guinea. prospect.org/2026/10/23/t...

This is a common practice in countries like Venezuela, you know the one we just invaded to "free" the population from a dictator?

Foreign Service Officers swear an oath to defend our Constitution, not Donald Trump’s ego. Treating political loyalty as a promotion requirement is authoritarian cronyism, not meritocracy.

And that we are on this planet for the equivalent of, maybe, one nanosecond and people use their time here to be evil.

I recently read that the Republican Christian right is now turning to declaring that empathy is a bad thing. This tracks. Especially when it's empathy for a child victim of sexual assault. Can't have that now, can we? I will never understand how a woman can be MAGA.

lastpositivist.bsky.social@lastpositivist.bsky.social

Genuinely don't know how nihilistic to be here but: it's not at all obvious that "man mocks a woman for being the victim of child rape" actually counts against him with modern Republican audiences. Indeed her having the temerity to complain, and him reminding them of that, might activate the base.

It's hard to get attention when people are focused on the midterms, but politics will continue after November. On the horizon: a federal bill addressing "organized retail crime" and another addressing "carjacking." Both of these would be disasters and give DHS more power.

A kid had just told the immigration judge that he would DIE if he were sent back to his home country. The judge said he would mail him an asylum application. Then the DHS attorney asked the judge to tell the kid they are now giving out $3000 to self-deport. That's how soulless they are.
