I’m curious how many people fail to understand ‘I won’t reply again’ means I won’t reply again. We each have a choice to be in conversation with others. No one owes anyone else a response or their time. I don’t think it’s too flippant to say those demanding this are demonstrating male entitlement.

I can barely express how much I admire these women - and it is *always* women - who waive their right to anonymity, in cases like this. If it were me, I'd want to hide away, forever, but they are made of sterner stuff. It may well turn out that Gisèle Pelicot started a desperately needed revolution.

“There is one fair point buried in all the overblown reaction, and it’s the government’s own lack of preparation. … Compared to other countries, it (NAO) found UK households were less prepared for emergencies, and the government had given less advice to help them - things easily and cheaply fixed.”

Thanks to all who thoughtfully replied to this yesterday. Do keep replying, it’s for anyone who’s interested/involved in the govt’s aim to hugely slash crime in the next decade - by targeting the national emergency of violence against women and girls. I’ll add the link to govt plan in comments.

Helen@futurestand.bsky.social

Thinking about the new UK govt target to reduce Violence Against Women and Girls by 50% within the next decade: what do you think are the best ways to achieve this? Interested to see all thoughtful ideas. (Remember, VWAG is 20% of all *reported* crime but studies show much more goes unreported.)

The people who will struggle are those who don’t have enough as it is or can‘t live independently. Not those posting on Bluesky about no cupboard room. And obviously those who truly committed to Japanese manufacturing principles in a close coupled and secure supply chain for their food shopping.

Aside from the bottled water, the nonsense about it being such a trial to have three days of food in just in case is getting to me. Is everyone else running their food shopping entirely on a just in time basis and only shopping for that day? Are your cupboards, fridges and freezers empty?🤷🏻‍♀️
