HBO is officially developing ‘THE BIRDS’, a new series inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's film. Starring Sarah Snook, the series is a modern-day reimagining of the film set in Alaska with a murder mystery at the center. (Source: Deadline)

In my Twitter days I had a running gag about a guy named "Jim Tollson" who would show up at public meetings to raise "who's gonna pay for this?" complaints about apocalyptic events. Happy to report that character has made it into a story set to be published soon.

My parents took me to "see" Disney's The Black Hole in 1978, probably at the Hi-Way Drive-In. I wasn't even two yet and have no memory. The first movie I REMEMBER seeing is The Empire Strikes Back, and even then, it's just one scene: Vader meeting with the bounty hunters.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

Since Halloween is almost here, I thought I would promote this anthology, featuring one of my many “urban legend is actually real” stories. #horrorwriterschat

Every story has an ending, but horror doesn't always have happy ones. Q4: What sort of very short (mouse-sized?) story can you write which has a sting in the tale? #HorrorWritersChat

The monsters in my stories are sometimes people, or things that resemble people, or something otherworldly, but they're almost always the threat, even if they don't always have ill intent exact. It's not for me to say whether I make it work. #horrorwriterschat

Alexander Hay@alexanderhay.myatproto.social

Right, you 'orrible little (James) Herberts. El Gato de Ulthar is hot on your furry little heels, and you're lunch if they get you. Are you a Mrs. Frisby, a Matthias or just plain taking the Mickey? Q3: What do you define as a monster in your horror, and how do you make it work? #HorrorWritersChat

I like to keep readers off base with a few off-hand mentions and suggestions of something odd before ramping up the weirdness in the final stretches. #horrorwriterschat

What is a human world to a little mouse but horror? Q2: How do you make your horror stories horrible? Is it detail, emotion, pathos, fear or even comedy? Or something else? How do YOU make the punters quiver? #HorrorWritersChat

Good morrow, my dear little vermin. It's the weekly Horror Writers Chat! This week, I will be taking you down a rabbit hole, or to precise, into a mouse hole. Soo-ooo-ooo... Q1: Introduce yourselves, gorge on that Stinking Bishop, and tell us what sort of fiction you write. #HorrorWritersChat

We watched a well-regarded Italian horror film from the 70s last night and I found myself not enjoying it, partially because it just wasn't for me but also because the protagonist looked like JD Vance.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

WOW -- Vance *defends* Vivek's reprehensible ad 👇 Q: Ramaswamy's campaign put out a controversial ad featuring his opponent's mother. Some Republicans are backing away. Do you think it was appropriate? JD VANCE: Well, I'll be honest. Whether the ad was appropriate or not is not really my concern.

In grade school a (years later rightly disgraced) priest said he'd contribute to our school's cherished tradition of pre-Xmas break movies But instead of, say, a Disney movie, he showed up with 3 crappy public domain movies, none longer than 15 min. I feel like we're being ruled by his like now.
