My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

And now she's pregnant with a demigod.

If you have an iPhone w/ the current OS, go into Settings, scroll to the bottom to click on Apps, scroll down to M & go into the Messages app, and flick this switch “screen unknown senders”. This dumps 99% political text messages into a folder you can separately check.

But in a dark burrow at last I find what I didn't know what I was looking for...the mouse king, thousands of my brethren tangled together in a seething, writhing mass of fur and limbs and tails. I enter the king and now I will never again be small or alone. Soon we will go eat." #HorrorWritersChat

Every story has an ending, but horror doesn't always have happy ones. Q4: What sort of very short (mouse-sized?) story can you write which has a sting in the tale? #HorrorWritersChat

My human monsters tend to be either powerful, sociopathic bastards or sad and broken weirdos. My monster monsters tend towards eldritch alien things. #HorrorWritersChat

Right, you 'orrible little (James) Herberts. El Gato de Ulthar is hot on your furry little heels, and you're lunch if they get you. Are you a Mrs. Frisby, a Matthias or just plain taking the Mickey? Q3: What do you define as a monster in your horror, and how do you make it work? #HorrorWritersChat

Oh shit, new B.R. Yeager coming out. Good news for my mental pleasure, bad news for my mental health. NEGATIVE SPACE was absolutely brutal (complimentary).

There's a door in my basement that I've never opened, and I hope that it will remain shut forever.

Doll@dollspace.gay

Modern homes are too eager to explain themselves immediately. It dislikes that. A proper house should reveal itself in stages. First you notice the woodwork. Then the oddities. Then the curious alcove. Then six months later someone says, “Oh, that? That door goes to the map room.”

It's a key part of conservative ideology: "I have no obligations to you and I can treat you however I like, but you are required to love me."

Genuinely irresponsible propaganda for the main story about Elon Musk 2 weeks before the election in which he is the largest donor in history to be an "Elon says he will do good thing at some point in the future" story

He can bow and scrape before Trump all he wants, but Trump will never appoint him to the Supreme Court because his face is too small for his head.

Jay Willis@jaywillis.net

James Ho has spent almost a decade desperately trying to get Trump's attention for a Supreme Court seat, and it's all going to be for nothing. Couldn't have happened to a worse person. Eat shit, loser.

We laugh because of minor things like "that's not fucking true" and "he's lying", but Sentient Teslas With 10,000PSI Tanks are how we end up with a mass casualty version of that Robocop 2 montage where all the new Robocops immediately kill themselves

Ads. I'll do ads. If it means getting the word out, you better believe I'll do ads. So many fantastic books and fantastic writers get lost in the mix (or get discovered later). I just want people to read my stuff. And there's some pretty inexpensive but decent response sites (coughcoughBookbubcough)

Fun fact about this law: the death penalty is an authorized maximum punishment if the willful deprivation of rights under color of law results in a victim's death, or if the offense involves specific aggravated factors. Anyways. Just a fun little thought.

18 U.S.C. § 242 to the moon!

Hi all! I'm Max and these days I write mostly corporate horror - I also enjoy Lovecraftian pastiche and EC-style horror-comedy. My favorite depiction of war in horror is Judge Holden from Blood Meridian. #HorrorWritersChat

Gree_@greethewriter.bsky.social

And there you are again. With a blink, flames scythe across the copse, now a deep trench. Explosions rattle your skull, blurring your vision. Your hand is heavy. With his head. Again. Tell us who you are, what do you write, and what is your favourite depiction of war in horror? #HorrorWritersChat

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge. War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way.

Is there a work of art that was created well before the current era that you feel explains Trump and MAGA and everything better than anything contemporary? For me it’s Assassins (1990) but I’m curious if other people have one.
