Look Zitron is probably not the best person to hold the mantle of the voice of reason … but he’s not wrong about how irresponsibly the media is covering AI. The lead data point is: Anthropic …booked a loss of nearly $81 billion in the January to June period, up from $13 billion [from] last year.

The AI company, which makes the popular Claude chatbot, has filed for an initial public offering that could be one of the biggest ever. n.pr/4yM9Ybv

5/ Utah officials didn’t monitor the mink farm workers for symptoms, either, even though exposure is significant: Mink sneeze. They escape. They attack. A worker at a different farm showed us his scars: “You get scared because the fucking thing bites, and it claws at you.”

Remember when every pickup truck had a Calvin pissing on a number 3 before Earnhardt died?

Hi, 80s/90s kid here with a PSA. You don’t use A.I. to make a flyer for your event. You’re supposed to bootleg the art from this strip of Calvin and Hobbes dancing.

Imagine being a research scientist and found quite conclusively that A was correct and B was wrong. But you still had to write about A and B as though they were still equally valid.

I feel like a good use of AI would be a bot available for very cheap that you dump your desired claim into and then it contacts your insurance and disputes the denial. Just to level the playing field so that routine denial triggers equally routine dispute.

ProPublica@propublica.org

When an insurance company is deciding whether to pay for your medical treatment, it generates a file, which should contain all records associated with your case, including documents explaining why the claim was denied. You have a right to see this file. (Published May 2023)

we had our yearly pep talk from risk management … AI has facilitated and absolute flood of medical board complaints against doctors

In 6 months my golf app has gone further than GoldenCheetah did in 6 years. Its unreal. You still have to know what you are doing, but being able to do a weeks work in an hour is phenomenal. #ClaudeCode

I almost feel like my spiritual materialist quest has just been revealed

Yes every Elise in the US* came with a 2ZZ *sold by Lotus — I’m excepting the series 1 Elise’s imported by Sun International before Lotus sold the Elise here, those have Honda engines and are also rad.

Book recommendations ? I just binged the crawler Carl series … very good btw … I could probably use something that is not dystopian hell scapes and dark humor … unless it’s really good

Isn’t the delivery the part that matters: “The vision and strategy I set are in place, and the path ahead for the brand is clear. What remains is delivery.” in full disclosure I’ve never been a fan of the Millars et al …

when I was a much younger man I had a habit of trying to convince conspiracy theorists I met of even crazier theories. if they denied the moon landing, I'd try to convince them the moon itself was a hoax, etc. Starting to worry that might have done lasting harm.

What’s the plan with this bike segmentation shit anyway? You really think it’s gonna make your ride more safe when the cops are pulling you over and checking for a thumb throttle and you’re trying to explain how shifting works to the same people who fail to investigate the deaths of bike riders?

but was he wearing a denim jacket ?
