GOP megadonor Ken Griffin: “We didn’t have the fiscal space to renew the tax cuts. [… Republicans] have their hands dirty over the tax cuts the last two years.” www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Trump’s gratuitously conceding that Russia & China might be helping Iran, albeit at a “very low level,” seems desperate. Perhaps, non-MAGA Republicans in tight races told him he’s approaching a red line beyond which they’d have to publicly rebuke him. If so, he’ll probably have to walk back further.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: “I see so many comments from Radical Left Morons & Lunatics that China and Russia are helping the ‘wonderful’ Islamic Republic of Iran. If they are, it’s at a very low level, but I don’t believe they are at all. They have too much to lose, & we would know about it, & know about it very fast!”

NY Times opinion writer Michelle Cottle suggested President Donald Trump is to blame for the “thuggish” culture infecting America — which she said was on full display in the sordid text messages sent by the Cornell frat boys accused of gang raping a female student. www.mediaite.com/media/ny-tim...

And restore the funding Biden and the Dems gave to IRS that Trump and the Republicans repealed. That funding would have more than paid for itself, and IRS would be able to collect from tax cheats, such as “pass-through company owners [who understate]…their profits” while we have our wages withheld.

It’s so weird. I feel compelled to share this. I feel like sharing this with someone close to me who will appreciate it the same way I do, but I can’t think of anyone close to me who would. So, I’m quote-posting here. After all, I found it on Bluesky, as I’ve found so many treasures. May you find it

This is the most remarkable story Ray Bradbury ever shared with me. He told it to me late one night, sitting in his den of antiquities and mementos. Take five minutes to read this. It’s pure magic. #Writing #Living #Creativity #RayBradbury #BookSky

I need to stay positive & surprisingly this piece helped. I’ll let you read it & judge for yourselves but I feel like I got a fair account of an Alaskan who is popular enough & experienced enough & could well be a reliable enough vote for Dems in the Senate. my takeaway from this is that she is thinking of these things in the right terms. she is asking whether she truly wants to do it since, if the answer is yes, it is absolutely the case that there is no better time than now.

“This country has never elected a female president. Why are we pretending that this is not a factor?” Ocasio-Cortez said with a laugh. “That doesn’t make it impossible, but to act as though it’s not a factor in anything ever is really a form of, like, denialism” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/22/u...

A Labor Day reminder: having a job is no longer enough to protect millions of Americans from homelessness. For many workers, the greatest threat isn't losing their job. It's that their job will never pay enough, never provide enough hours, never offer enough stability to keep them housed.

Got 'em: The @thebulwark.com added an editor's note to the review, acknowledging that the author's direct affiliation with the Foundation for American Innovation ("the foundation shaping the tech right," according to Inc.) created a conflict that should have been forthrightly disclosed.

Gil Durán@gilduran.com

Someone finally wrote a bad review of my book! Its argument: The tech bros are not fascists and we need not worry about them. Its author: a fellow at the Foundation for American Innovation (FAI). FAI's ideological godfather and treasured idol: Peter Thiel. 🫠

Yes! As @billkristolbulwark.bsky.social is all over Bluesky telling us what we want to hear, instead of waiting in vain for him to ask for our forgiveness for his part in delegitimizing the Republican Party, we should ignore him. It’s not the Dems’ fault our best case scenario is a one-party system.

“[A]nother shoe [has] drop[ped] in the Kafkaesque nightmare that our precedents have been steadily creating." Supreme Court Justice Jackson Our only hope is to vote for Democrats in the midterms. A massive Dem majority in Congress could protect us from the other two Branches & we’ll hold them to it

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

Justice Jackson: This "violates well-established precedents concerning this Court's equitable discretion and needlessly injects chaos and uncertainty into the upcoming midterm elections. It also lets another shoe drop in the Kafkaesque nightmare that our precedents have been steadily creating."

AOC had no problem kicking fellow New Yorker, Crowley, to the curb. She could do the same to fellow New Yorker, Jeffries. And, if Heaven smiles upon us, and Trump and Vance are impeached and convicted in close-enough succession, Speaker AOC would ascend to the presidency!

Oh, it's bad. He doesn't say Blanche is pulled, but, he does. I think the only fair reading of this is that Trump is not willing to let Blanche back down on the audit immunity.

NYT on the Blanche vote delay that’s the result of Cornyn and Tillis not being on board due to where things stand with the IRS audit immunity provision. “‘I can see why he wants it, because it provides immunity from audits no other taxpayer would get,’ Mr. Cornyn added. “

I highly recommend listening to the new podcast show “It’s a Superpower??” by The Daily Tism! Episode one hooked me right way! I want to be among the characters. Each one intrigues me & I loved their uniting against someone who deserved it. There’s a very cool twist at the end & stay for outtakes!

Btw that figure once Spotify and other late reporters were in was 1500 listens. In the first day. For a brand new show nobody knew anything about. 1500 people took a chance on this new unknown thing and gave it a go. That alone blows my mind.

This is an critically important thread! Without Republicans’ controlling Congress & letting Trump do whatever he wants, he wouldn’t have been able to abuse his power & enrich himself, his family & his co-conspirators who seek to become oligarchs. We must vote only for Democrats this November!

Fuck you, Ian Bremmer, you abject ghoul.

Please read this whole thread. It won’t be pleasant, but, when you get to the part near the end that I’m quote-posting, you may feel the eternal ember of beautiful truth in your heart and resist succumbing to thinking hell is other people. You may even risk sharing that truth with a boss or investor

The source of that danger is financiers, and they are motivated by a mix of solipsism and a belief in *other people's* solipsism. For them, the most exciting investment hypothesis is that "hell is other people": locusmag.com/feature/comm... 39/
