It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

I’ve been released from IDF custody with a “warning,” apparently because of my public profile (I told them I wasn’t even a congressmember yet, just a nominee). But several dozen rabbis & participants harvesting olives with me are still in detention.

hyou've got this twisted. we haven't been screaming for more rights, we're having our existing rights taken away and lived through American society become increasingly hostile to us. by letting republicans set the terms of the debate you're giving them a wedge to take away your rights, too.

For another, the cishet supermajority of Americans are just apathetic about them at best and ambivialent about them at worst. When the overriding issue is material conditions, trans rights unfortunately tends to take a backseat.

Now is the time to care about everyone, not “once we win” The time to care about everyone is always always always now

It's important not to think of Trump as a remarkably bad person who happened to obtain tremendous power. He is the product of a political and economic system that selects these traits.

1,000 years from now, teachers will struggle to explain to their students how at this time in history, we found literally the most despicable human being in America and made him the most powerful person in the world

No matter where you shop, you're getting screwed by Amazon. Amazon has found a way to make everything you buy - at Target, at a mom-and-pop shop, even direct from the manufacturer - more expensive. And they're not the only one: Expedia's done the same thing, but for hotel rooms.

dem leadership needs to get off their asses and do more than sign some letters of condemnation. this is outrageous.

You will save so much of your own sanity by not engaging with wild claims brought forth by people who aren't interested in if they're actually true. You can't always change the news or "the discourse", but you can stop it from changing you.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and I am not the one making the extraordinary claim, so it is not my job to specify what the evidence should be. >>

It's the job of the media to scrutinize such statements and decide whether there's a story here at all (maybe the story is Anthropic researchers have fallen into a fantasy-land and brought many policymakers with them), not to just platform them. >>

Replaced the wax seal underneath my toilet. Tried very hard to keep everything hygienic. Felt kinda crummy later in the day, so now I'm paranoid I've given myself some sort of civil war era disease.

You try to be a good person and only criticize the content of someone's character, but their obsession with aesthetics is a character flaw that they make manifest in their own carved faces.

I am thrilled and proud beyond measure to support the amazing workers who create and design the games I and my loved ones have spent a lifetime playing. I implore everybody to sign the petition and signal boost the campaign as far and wide as we can!

This morning, the D&D team and Magic's Studio X informed our leadership of our intent to unionize. We love the games we make and the work we do, and unionizing is how we protect that work. unitedwizardsofthecoast.com/news/dnd-stu...

What a terrible thing to say about all his supporters in Klantee.

Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."

All prisoners should have the right to vote while in prison

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

Arguably the biggest democracy referendum next month: Virginia is one of only three states where the state constitution says people should lose their right to vote FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIFE if they are convicted of any felony. This measure would allow anyone to vote after prison.

Gomez Addams earns the ire of his neighbor not by being sp00ky but by doing some white trash shit like hitting golf balls at his house.

Peasant: "My sick daughter needs help." Geralt, having taken all his loose coin, beer, and emeralds: "First, let's talk about my reward."

Young Gandalf gets his report card. Young Radagast: "How'd you do? Did you pass? Did you pass, Gandalf? Gandalf, did you pass? Hmm?" YG: "I..."

Dark Matter S2E05 is crazy good and comes out of nowhere. It can also be viewed without the rest of S2 if you've only seen S1. Just some really beautiful and slightly heartbreaking TV.

I had not seen this clip where Tammy Duckworth advises Democrats to "not impeach anybody," "get back to work" and "allow" Donald Trump to "save face" and I would just like to remind the senator from IL that the federal government took 4,000 Chicagoans and murdered a 38-year-old father last fall.
