An art historical gloss: for those who don't know, Guernica was held by MoMA in NYC for more than 40 years, as Picasso stipulated the painting should not return to Spain while Franco was still in power. It was finally unstretched, rolled up & sent back to Spain in 1981, as shown in this video

This new electoral vídeo from Pedro Sánchez is quite something. Standing in front of Guernica defending the anti-war stance of his government, limiting military expenditure, denouncing the atrocity of Gaza. English subtitles.

Don't Mention the War: Basil, gin, Kirschwasser, dry vermouth, cherry liqueur, maraschino liqueur, cocoa bitters. #cocktails #original #cheers

The weirdest thing is I don't understand well over half the words, and yet I sing along with the whole album.

It’s one of my top twenty albums by anybody and I still don’t know half the words.

Hi pals! I'm wondering if there are any avid collectors of type specimen PDFs AND if they happened to collect The Freight Collection PDFs that were on Phil’s Fonts?

I'm looking for a scholar who studies James Baldwin (broadly, his life and/or work) who is open to collaboration and computational methods. If you know someone nice, please let me know :D

Merriam-Webster's Time Traveler tool traces English words to the year each one entered the language, going back to before the 12th century. The writer checked his own birth year and turned up "twerking," "cornhole," and "awesomesauce.

This is such a harrowing piece, beautiful in its honesty. Highly recommended.

Magdalene Visaggio was once in seminary, training to become a Catholic priest. Now she's a snarky online trans girl like the rest of us. In a challenging new essay for Assigned, she writes about the toll being hated for who she is has taken on her psyche. assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...

Teeline Fonts have been licensed by establishments all over the world, but I recently had the rare treat of visiting a fantastic new restaurant in Philadelphia that uses our Cuttlefish types throughout its identity program and seeing my letters “in the wild.” The Blue Warbler in Chestnut Hill

Especially gorgeous (but in a way that eluded my photography skills): the gilded Cuttlefish letters on the windows. Apologies for confusing the patron who caught me snapping a half dozen pics in the bathroom! Food and drinks were on point too—if you’re in Philly I recommend it!

A little #MondayMorningMystery! 🔎 We've been contacted by someone hoping for help to identify the church in this happy wedding picture. Produced by early 20thC Edinburgh photographers the Thomson Bros, the brick-built church is most likely in Edinburgh or the Lothians. Does anyone recognise it?

Rubio: "You've got friends who have been shot in the head because they're out protesting, and it's heartbreaking to him to see these people are abused in this way and have no measures to take against their own government as a result of it. This is a vicious regime."
