Let’s go… First time vending in years, hope folks show up. 1. Those are real copies of Suffering the Other, arrived from the printer yesterday. Orders will start shipping next week! 2. That is my duplicate copy of The October Film Haunt. I love @michaelwehunt.bsky.social! Read him if you haven’t.

i picked this up because i have a fatal weakness for books with heavy use of design and it turned out this book not only has super fun design, it is also, in fact, great. and there's crazy toku mechs in it! i recommend a print edition

You all may not have heard since I talk about it so rarely, but I wrote a novel. It's very good. Of course I would say that, but if I hadn't written it, I would still be obliged by hater's code to admit that that that uppity-ass quirk chungus bitch actually wrote a great novel.

I'm very happy that this story finally found a home in Lightspeed. In good humor, I will share prior rejections: "just reads like the real internet, who wants to read this??" and "this is exactly the type of story we want to publish. Please send something else instead"

i've been doing the Honeywood Daily readalong of the Honeywood File by H.B. Creswell, an exact accounting of the travails of freelancing for the last century or so, so i'm sure other writers can get more drama out of agricultural zoning law bureaucracy

sometimes the sentences catch you, fillet you, grill you, and eat you. mostly the sentence catches you and you go to a reader processing plant, and then you're in a supermarket frozen reader section

reading Building Sentences to (in theory) brush up on my sentences but have been completely derailed by the author comparing sentences and readers to fish and fishermen. these sentences are out here fighting for their lives man

Building Great Sentences: How to Write the Kinds of Sentences You Love to Read is the full title. some interesting stuff, but absolutely the kind of professor i would have spent all class arguing with over statements like "sentences usually have more at stake than fish"

the title is a fragment of a line ahab says in moby dick! the rest of the words are mine. ages ago i was informed there's a longstanding tradition of pulling snippets from older works for short story titles, so basically elbowing in to the centuries-long literary conversation

spaced that this was out here is a short short about MECHS AND KAIJU and GAY BREAKUPS: www.bafflingmag.com/issue-twenty...

perhaps borrowed depth, but it's fun. these kinds of oblique inspirations are also why i enjoy short story collections with afterword commentary from the author, or liner notes. in this case, i wanted to evoke consuming rage

A $3 @mta.info subway fare and some good Q train timing can buy you one hell of a view of the July 4th fireworks and the Brooklyn Bridge light show! Huge shoutout to the train operator for slow rolling over the Manhattan Bridge and the conductor for announcing it.

The Prairieland cartoonist/zinester who got 30 years for making a zine. Still short of the goal for funding his fight against this total travesty of justice. A gullible rural jury brainwashed by rightwing media, and the most fascist judge in the country. Donate & push this over the finish line.

itchio has the capability to make bundles for paid items, which can then be put on sale (or "reverse sale"). The bundles cannot contain free items, which seems like an oversight. I guess a workaround would be to make a new paid listing which is a collection of free work?

just trying to puzzle out how to put all the various short stories together to make an "all my writing on itchio" bundle. individual listings for releases makes sense from a video game and zine publishing platform standpoint, but fiction collections are convenient and popular for a reason.
