If someone told me I could watch Hegseth be drawn & quartered on live tv, I'd least consider it for a few seconds

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

"Most nations avoid public executions for the pretty obvious reason that turning a person’s death into propaganda is an assault on human dignity. It creates perverse incentives for jackals like Hegseth to target individuals for spectacular acts of violence in the name of self-aggrandizement."

On the bus in 2nd grade, an older kid asked if I was gay because I was whistling or humming or something. I had literally just finished reading some book that mentioned gay in the "happy" sense, so I told him I was. It's a wonder I didn't get my ass kicked.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?

FLAG MS NOW: Trump aides are now exploring attaching Trump's name to Ford's Theatre. The playhouse where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated has been mentioned by aides as one of the federal properties that could somehow carry Trump's name.

One cool thing about my workplace playing lots of contemporary country is that anytime I leave my office to go to the bathroom, there's a very good chance I'll hear the worst song I've ever heard in my life

Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

Assuming McConnell is dead (🤞🏼) there’s a delicious irony in him not being able to die with dignity since his dead body is being used as a political pawn. There’s also every chance that this is exactly how he wanted to go out.

If it’s not brought to light by August 3, it stays vacant until the new term. Although there’s a growing school of thought that this is a better outcome since any special election would likely put another Republican in place, and this way they’d lose a vote

Herald Milk is a journeyman reliever with good control but not much of a fastball

Massive gamble by the manager to put him up against the greatest player that ever lived. But, he’s their captain, so I guess Scaloni has got to pick him.

Typical Reds incompetence. Drafting a quarterback even though there’s not a QB position in baseball

America The Beautiful should be our anthem and I will die on this hill.

The main problem with The Star Spangled Banner is that it’s both a dirge and also very hard to sing. For however dull God Save The King is, it’s a very simple tune and hard to actually mess up. In contrast TSSB has mid-stanza octave shifts and even trained singers struggle with them.

The thing that's really breaking my brain is that if you strip away literally all the context, they've basically ended up where they were this time last year v Brighton: everyone happy, singing, clapping the team, the stadium still full long after full time, vibes off the chart
