Trump, empowered by SCOTUS, entered office convinced he could do insider trading, sell pardons and favors, take bribes, steal and openly flout the law. Now, with the prospect of investigations looming, he is growing ever more fearful that he miscalculated.

As a child, books opened my mind & sparked a curiosity I cherish. Dolly Parton understood this magic. Her Imagination Library gave millions of children access to reading. She turned her privilege into love in action. A beautiful, inspiring soul. ❤️ She lived her life from her Higher Self for sure!

Unbelievable small minded response. I hope it’s just what the papers are reporting and not the truth that’s as far as they got.

Really? Is that it? If this is all that’s come from COBR, it’s pitifully inadequate. As crisis deepens, it beggars belief that there aren’t eg plans to increase resources for the fire service, support for farmers, max workplace temperature, funded community cool spaces & obvs ban on new fossil fuels

I appreciate the honesty of @benkentish.bsky.social His experience is so typical of everyone I know who has had dealings with social care. If Andy Burnham sorts this debacle out he will be a hero. I really liked he called out profiteering and the unfairness like American Healthcare - Hoping here!

'It was like a case study in how the state shouldn't work.' @benkentish.bsky.social shares his family's personal experience of social care earlier this year.

It’s heartening Reform didn’t achieve anything here - demonstrating that if given a choice voters can opt for hope and change for the better. The jury is out for me with Andy Burnham - it’s an opportunity of a lifetime to create a gov for people not corporations - let’s hope he seizes it.

Peter Stefanovic@peterstefanovic.bsky.social

"Everyone knows that politics isn't working, everyone can feel that the country isn't where it should be," Andy Burnham says after winning Makerfield by-election This is a chance to "build a new politics", he adds

Byline Times@bylinetimes.bsky.social

🔴 'After Andy Burnham's Win in Makerfield, the Answer Cannot be Managerial Politics with a Different Accent' "Burnham cannot simply fit back into the system. His strength is that people see him as outside of it... he will need to move quickly, clearly, decisively", writes @labourlewis.bsky.social

Help please. I've been trying to discover whether any government minister has used the word "terrorism" in relation to the riots in Belfast and Southampton. I've drawn a blank, but I want to be sure. Has anyone seen or heard such a statement? Many thanks.

Just had a catch up on the news and honestly when you take a step back and look at what we are seeing it’s unbelievable really - hatred, division, self interest, AI slop and delusion. There are also a few people with character, enlightened, Integrity. But why do people follow the bad players?

We should expand the triple lock to working age benefits. Arguing for an equality of misery is truly a pathetic position. Oh, and as the Resolution Foundation has itself pointed out, there is no growth in welfare spending as a share of GDP.

Resolution Foundation@resolutionfoundation.org

Over the past two decades, pensioner incomes have grown by 20 per cent, while those of working-age families have grown by just 7 per cent. Given these trends, surely it is time to include the Triple Lock in debates around stemming the growth in welfare spending? ➡️ buff.ly/FY93tV6

I had high hopes for Starmer and if his words here actually turn into action then I’d be the first to give him credit. But is it all just too late? Will this and other policies change the neoliberal direction of travel? We need a strong state that helps all to have a better quality of life.

I haven’t got anything against billionaires as long as they help others too. It’s the ones who make fortunes through their employees and customers and baulk at the idea of paying good wages and wealth tax. If they leave they will free up opportunities for others to be successful.

I always felt Andy Burnham was one of the more enlightened voices in Labour, but I do wonder - Not taking essentials back into public ownership Keeping Labours fiscal rules Being facilitated back into Westminster by Josh Simons a key figure behind Labour Together Anyone else getting the ick?

We Own It@weownit.org.uk

Sorry, but this is just not good enough People have had it with politicians telling us we can’t do what 90% of the countries in the world do - run water in public ownership This is an issue that tells the public who you’re prepared to fight for: US-private equity giants OR the British public.

If they taught that understanding and accepting oneself is the key to living a good life, in schools, our world would be heaven on earth in the making. If they taught that #loveistheanswer then we would be fast forwarding the curriculum 😊

I’m sickened by the utter hate fuelled messaging about @zackpolanski.bsky.social - his poise and resilience in the face of the corporate establishment who are terrified of him is commendable. Please if you believe in integrity and decency support Zack and @greenparty.org.uk to give a firm Message

George Monbiot@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

How is this cartoon of Zack Polanski, published in the Sun - complete with forked tongue and other Der Stürmer tropes - not blatantly antisemitic?

Hatred against minority groups is abhorrent. Hateful attacks on anyone including Jews and Moslems is abhorrent. Using these attacks as a way to suppress the rights of people to protest against illegal military action is abhorrent. We need to teach love not division and hatred #loveistheanswer

Andrew Fisher@fisherandrew79.bsky.social

This is nonsense from Keir Starmer. There is no evidence that peaceful Palestine solidarity marches have had any influence on violence against Jewish communities. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

We need to win big on May 7. Thousands of Green candidates are standing across England and Wales. This is a real chance to change politics - to give communities a stronger voice and challenge parties backed by big money. Support the campaign 👉 crowdfunder.co.uk/p/we-deserve...

I mean who is undertaking the actual reality check? That this is a genuine convo with the press and the president of the USA makes me want to wake up out of the nightmare! Come on congress do your job!

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: Did you post that picture of yourself depicted as Jesus Christ? TRUMP: I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do Red Cross. Only the fake news could come up with that one.

I've written in Health Service Journal today: Not another protracted Labour government U-turn. Wes Streeting must act now and cancel the Trump/Mandelson Palantir contract. NHS workers are voting with their feet and refusing to take part in this national disgrace. www.hsj.co.uk/technology-a...

hsj.co.ukWes Streeting must cancel Palantir’s FDP contract nowPalantir is not the right partner for the NHS, says Green Party leader Zack Polanski

The thinking that Trump is so delighted by pomp and circumstance that a royal visit will in some way appease him they’re deluded. They’ve endorsed a visit to a man who’s launched an illegal war and threatens war crimes. They’ll be sending the King to Russia next. Hypocrisy at its worst.

The murderous world we live in is sickening. The loss of even one human life is devastating for those around them but killing and hatred appears to be out of control. This is not who we are. Be the change you want to see and create a loving mind and practice loving others. #loveistheanswer

Jeremy Corbyn@jeremycorbyn.bsky.social

Israel has passed the death penalty solely for Palestinians, enforced through military courts with a 96% conviction rate. Israeli Minister Ben Gvir popped champagne. The Israeli government is raising a toast to genocidal apartheid. The UK government is arming and funding it.

We know why Trumps cabinet are colluding to deny the president’s mad behaviour and words - but the main stream media must take responsibility for normalising this erratic behaviour by a sitting president. Surely the world deserves a leader who loves people - has integrity and speaks truth. No?
