People missing an important point about folks getting fired for whatever they said about Charlie Kirk: Americans are being conditioned to be snitches on their fellow citizens who don’t toe a party line on what is “allowed” to be expressed. And employers are going along. It’s the new secret police

If you knit something like this you are obligated to make dot matrix printer noises to annoy people around you

Yknow what? I’ve been sitting on this for a decade because I’m not into punching laterally but I AM FINE with punching far right lunatics. Just a handful of short weeks before GamerGate started, Briana Wu, who I spoke to 0 times before this, sends me this *wild* ass email. 🧵

Someone on Twitter posted that they had run into Philip Glass at their lower Manhattan polling place, saying nice things about Mamdani. The campaign put this up as a quote-tweet within the hour.

This is why I am so happy teaching spec ed kids who mostly can't read.

I hate crypto, I hate online gambling, I hate AI, I hate pay-later, I hate subscription models, I hate the gig economy, I hate ring cameras, I hate drones, I hate self checkout. I don't want to come off as a luddite but capitalism's hold on tech sucks.

I feel like the real long term consequence of the new Pope is we are going to have to explain to our grandkids why people dress as the Pope at White Sox games

It’s notable that, in its completely amoral transactional way, the Trump admin is able to be more honest in some ways about the Israeli government than the Biden admin was.

I need people to understand that Barthes meant "Death Of The Author" to mean that authorial intent should not be the primary lens by which to criticize and understand a text; it has nothing to do with "is buying a book by a bigot acceptable" it is about LITERARY CRITICISM

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.

I just want to tip my hat to the crack team of White House economists who were able to discover--in just a few short days--that the U.S. is dependent on China for smartphones, computers and semiconductors.

In The Lost Lands is one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. It's a terrible pastiche of 2000 AD and Euro comics in Heavy Metal. Dave Bautista uses a two headed snake as a weapon. Its amazing.

Hmmm but there's a ton of legal precedent in the US that says it is okay as long as they aren't white

Apparently the Supreme Court believes that kidnapping people into slavery is okey dokey.

Can we stop calling these atrocities "deportations." These people sold to El Salvadorian prisons were not deported. Deportation is a process that did not take place. They were rounded up and removed with no process. They were kidnapped, not deported.
