Such important words for our times. Do not let the madness discourage you.

There are no ethical uses of AI. There are no “safe” uses of AI. There are no defensible “leftist” uses of AI. You want to know how I know this? The computer scientists in my life who had to work on it are all suffering moral injuries and burnout.

A friendly reminder for the well meaning people I see making this mistake: If you want to refer to the community of Somali-Americans use Somali, the proper term, and not "Somalians". Anyone from Minnesota hears "Somalians" and braces themselves for something racist.

If you didn't grow up during the Cold War & the Cuban Missile Crisis, or practice bomb drills in school in case Russia attacked us, you can't really understand the slap in the face that Trump's embrace of Putin is to those of us who did. #ProudBlue #Pinks #SheShed

Trump’s grandpappy the pimp ran a brothel here because Germany wouldn’t let him come back no matter how he pleaded and wept. His son became an evil, monstrous slumlord and his grandson an evil, pedophile child sex trafficker and multiple felon. Their Ancestors’ Hall is a crack den and whorehouse.

"It is often thought today that the shock of the German Jews in 1933 is explained by the fact that Hitler seized power. This is a curious misunderstanding. The personal thing was not what our enemies did, but what our friends did.”

"Man denkt heute oft, dass der Schock der deutschen Juden 1933 sich damit erklärt, dass Hitler die Macht ergriff. Das ist ein kurioses Missverständnis. Das Persönliche war doch nicht etwa was unsere Feinde taten, sondern was unsere Freunde taten." - Hannah Arendt

Echoes of history ringing in the air… “..If we recognize anything about National Socialism, then it is the recognition that he has succeeded in the complete mobilization of human stupidity for the first time in German politics." Good morning with Kurt Schumacher 13. October 1895- 20. August 1952”

Oktober 1895- 20. August 1952

Precisely the public discussion we need to be having:

I’m going to begin this discussion of the barbaric practice of broadcasting a human sacrifice on livestream by using one of the ugliest words in the English language. So I promise to use it sparingly:

Funny. I experienced a similar timeline. But not by studying science. Instead, as a film production student, I studied how people made sense of their world so I could better share my world though sound and image. And I arrived in the same place.

Appalachian Memories@republicofcascadia.bsky.social

Remember the photo of Trump outside St. John’s church where he is holding a Bible upside down? As the years have passed, I no longer think it was a mistake. It was a signal to his followers. For his only trait greater than his ignorance is enmity for others.

Anthropic banning “abusive or cruel behavior” toward Claude in its new usage policies is proof to me that tech companies are going to moderate violence against AI before they ever moderate violence against women and minorities

The same people who thought kids would be traumatized by masks and learning accurate history are going to livestream a death by firing squad. Elections have consequences. Vote wisely.

There is consistency in his “reasoning” if you accept as a contextual fact that the man is a bloody racist.

The man who bought full-page ads demanding the death penalty for five Black and Latino teenagers falsely accused of rape is now worried that seven mostly white Cornell frat boys accused of rape “won’t get a fair shake.”

They should have studied history. J. Robert Oppenheimer famously quoted the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita, saying "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds" after witnessing the first successful detonation of a nuclear bomb during the Trinity test on July 16, 1945.

Why someone wants a huge monument (w/sniper nest) overlooking the National Mall:

conifergirl.bsky.social@conifergirl.bsky.social

I am telling you what the building is shaped like. And…I’m telling you that free countries do not build permanent overwatch positions aimed at the places where their own citizens assemble. They just don’t. That isn’t a monument with extra features. That’s a guard tower with a gift shop.

If NFL owners want to censor who performs in stadiums, they shouldn't ask taxpayers to help build them. You can't take public subsidies for stadiums then use them as your personal editorial board. Pay for it all out of your own pocket and hold as many Kid Rock concerts as you want to.
