Mike Rogers is a corporate sellout who moves back to Michigan every few years to run for office to take another swing at the revolving door of corporate politics.

Report on the stakes, not the horse race. False equivalencies. Biased headlines that bury the lede. Sloppy reporting that repeats canned talking points. Sanewashing. Reporting lies that a newsworthy person said. The American press is failing…again. margaretsullivan.substack.com/p/how-you-ca...

This megalomaniac owns the Starlink satellite system the US depends on for our country’s defense. The risk of handing our national security over to Elon Musk is insane.

The trailer for my new film, "Musk," has just been released.

The guy who did such an incredible job with the Reflecting Pool, Ballroom, Kennedy Center, National Mall, and Great American Fair is going to redesign our warships. What could go wrong?

Every fancy get-out-the-vote tech in the world can't beat the oldest organizing tool we've got: talking to your friends. Democracy isn't an app — it's people talking to people. Wild, right? azmirror.com/2026/08/14/t...

A $1.8 billion bribery bucket, funded by us. To pay off Jan. 6 thugs. To reward law-breakers. To lure anyone to commit crimes on behalf of DJT & win the lottery. We'll never know who's paid, or be able to reclaim $ for fraud. It's insane. This should be a headline EVERY DAY. @indivisible.org

We don’t know what the future holds for our democracy, but we do know that we follow in the footsteps of patriotic Americans who also did not know what the future held and yet they organized anyway. It’s our turn now.

We need economic indicators that measure the well-being of the American public. We’re measuring the wrong things.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

The richest 10% of Americans own roughly 87% of stocks. The richest 1% alone own roughly half of all stocks. It's worth pointing out once again that the stock market is not the economy.

I'm kind of fascinated by that big Lauren Sanchez Bezos feature in the Times. There's just nothing going on there at all, no insight or conflict or notable color, so the hook is just "this unfathomably rich but otherwise fatuous person enjoys their lifestyle a great deal." Fantastic stuff.

Thank you, Gov. Hobbs, for vetoing SB 1142, which would have forced Arizona into the uncapped, unaccountable federal voucher program. We’re grateful our state has a leader who puts public education first! 🍎🎉

Winning is glorious but not enough. Stay engaged, stay active, let all electeds know they report to us, the people.

Péter Magyar’s victory in Hungary’s election would not only break Viktor Orbán’s 16-year hold on power, but could also reshape Budapest’s role in Europe. Yet even among those backing the opposition leader’s bid, he remains a deeply polarizing figure. 🔗 politico.eu/article/pete...

I too have written about white conservatives in southern state legislatures rushing through bullshit changes to the law just to thwart the advancement of literally one black man, but I'm a historian who writes about the Jim Crow era South and not a reporter discussing current fucking events there.

Calvin Duncan, a man imprisoned for 30 years before he was exonerated, won an election in New Orleans promising to fix a judicial system that failed him Now, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and the GOP-controlled Legislature are racing to eliminate his job before he can be sworn in

"Give her credit...she's willing to just say what she thinks and everyone else is busy dancing around, pulling their punches... The people who've left are often the clearest eyed." Bill Kristol and Tim Miller on how Trump defectors often end up sounding a lot like The Bulwark.

Agree. They throw unbelievable bs at the wall & some of it actually sticks.

Honestly cannot think of a time I knew less what was going to happen at court than I feel ahead of oral arguments on birthright citizenship tomorrow. The fact that this is getting a full hearing instead of a 9-0, per curiam, benchslap is already beyond disturbing.

American intelligence goes direct to Putin. Trump colludes, traitorously.

Dems, you might not have power within the rules and regulations of Congress, but what can you do outside of Congress? You have contacts. You can organize. You can go on cable news. You can hold town halls. You can do bus tours. You can make your presence known. You can deliver message to the people.

Term limits do nothing good for governance or democracy, and harm it in many very important ways. They’re probably the worst institutional innovation America has tried in the post war era.
