anthropic.comLLMs are making formal software verification feasible at a much larger scaleClaude formally proved security properties in the compiled code of 123 open-source libraries. Along the way, it found bugs that had eluded detection for years.

<soapbox> …and for it to become generally accessible too. I’ve seen models writing Lean code for years now, but I’ve yet to see codebases formalizing their most fundamental systems with this power—access controls, extension lifecycles, rate limits, etc.

Which Pokémon does a compression algorithm think are most similar? bzip pairs Gengar with Haunter, Magikarp with Gyarados and Pikachu with Jolteon. 13 different Pokémon get paired with Marowak- it's a very average sprite..

imagining the world where the headline was “lean solves open math problem” and ten gazillion trillion dollars was poured into theorem provers

just noticed the iOS keyboard’s emoji search bar doesn’t use continuously curved corners, can’t unsee it

this was nearly my last straw while battling illness what the HELL is an uncrushable??

naively, this sounds like the models should be a threat, but I’ve found only the opposite. I, too, can go deeper on more problems with my time, and my peers have started looking to me for advice. I love that.

One of my marketable skills used to be the depth of investigation I could give to a problem. Models have enabled so many more people to go deep on so many more topics now! We see niches being explored with more depth and breakthroughs advancing our frontiers every day as a consequence.

Models’ mathematical abilities are finally in the limelight! I’m holding my breath for someone to do a type theory breakthrough

Another skill I’d like to see become accessible is formalization, for infrastructures. Eager to see people ‘do a breakthrough’ on type systems and interfaces next. </soapbox>

“C# [frequency] in C# [language]” is straightforward… but what I’m really interested in is “C# [language] in C# [key]”

What the hell they took the numbers off my knobs

Clavin@cla.vin

Has anyone else had their apartment building send notices of unit access for “stove knob replacement”?

I genuinely don’t remember if they went ascending or descending, or which side is big burner and which is little burner………….
